Today is one of those days when we fly an American flag.

It's in a flag holder next to our front door. Another was Election Day. My father is a veteran. My grandfathers were veterans. I am a veteran.

The right-wingers should not get to have a monopoly on displaying flags. They do it to pretend they are patriots, whether they are or not. They do it as an attempt to put their finger in the eyes of others.

I fly a flag on days that have a patriotic theme. July 4, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Labor Day, Flag Day, Election days, etc. For me, it is a symbol of what the nation should be. It has nothing to do with how the right-wingers use it. I will fly it again on Inauguration Day, when Joe Biden becomes our next President.
