Trump isn't trying to stage a coup. He's FAKING a coup.

Why is Trump firing DoD-people and replacing them with loyalists?
Why has he ordered the government-departments to prepare budgets for 2021 as if Biden won't order them to write new ones anyways?
Why does Trump keep drumming up outrage while at the same time not delivering any evidence for fraud?

He is trying to fake it until he makes it.

No, seriously.

Trump isn't some macchiavellian genius who masterfully games the system. That would require cold and calculated objectivity, knowing yourself and your enemies, it would require hard work and attention to detail and dogged determination. Trump is incapable of all those things.

Trump is hoping that if he just keeps playing President, then the rest of the country will eventually simply give up and let him stay President and move on to something else.

He is hoping that if he can just stall you long enough, then eventually something else will happen that will catch your attention and you will FORGET that he's no longer President.

"Me losing the election? That's fake news, you are fake news. How come the news-media always talks about me no longer being President but refuses to talk about that other thing? They should talk about that other thing!"

Why does he think that this would work? Because he is projecting. Trump has never had the stamina to go through with anything. He always loses interest halfway through. He thinks that other people lose interest as easily as he does.

Why some joined him in this fakery will always be a mystery. My only explanation is that the power of the presidency frightens them. Loss of job, loss of prestige. It takes real guts to stand up to a powerful government figure.

and I'm pretty sure Bill Maher holds some responsibility for placing the idea in Trump's head so long ago, and making it all but inevitable that Trump would adopt the strategy.

He's converting his diehard supporters into lifelong customers for his businesses. What better way to secure their loyalty than to convince them he was cheated and tried to fight the corrupt system?

Not to mention pulling in more donations to help pay off his campaign's debt.

He is trying to stage a coup. Which will not succeed and after that it would be Trump was just joking. We ought to take this stuff he is doing a lot more serious than we are instead of just dismissing them as impossibilities. Trump will not succeed in his efforts to subvert the American Democracy, but he is making it easier for someone down the down to accomplish it.

"Oh, he's just faking it. That gun ain't even loaded." At some point (and it should happen real early on) you stop kidding around about it, and treat the asshole as if the gun's loaded and he intends to shoot it. When that happens, it's too late and there is no safe place to stand. We need to act sooner.

The moment you have someone with a live firearm, it ceases being a joke. I think this is why the JCS met earlier this week. They do not want to be drawn into this, they do not want Trump through one of his proxies issuing orders down the chain unless those orders have been vetted by the JCS first.

It’s time that we demand and pressure all influencers (Network TV, papers, “Responsible” corporate America, State governors, public figures in media, former administration figures, etc) that this shit needs to stop now! No normalization of this treasonous behavior, in fact we must find indisputable normalization that Biden is President elect, and we demand cooperation NOW for our security
