https://rudepundit.blogspot.com/2020/11/we-need-to-accept-that-at-least-70_9.htmlSo many times in the last few days, since Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were declared the winners of the presidential race, I've heard someone say that it's fine to be happy, but "we have to grapple with the fact that 70 million still voted for Donald Trump despite everything that we know about him. What are we going to do about that?"
My response is simple: Maybe we just need to accept that at least 70 million Americans are just shitty people. And, frankly, it's on them to change. They're not fucking children. They're adults who made adult decisions. I'm so fucking sick of the infantilization of the Trump voter, the idea that they're these naifs who need to be nurtured into some kind of maturity, that they have fears of the progressive world (even as they benefit from it in many places with expanded Medicaid), that they are uneducated and inundated with bullshit from Fox "news" and its devolved progeny in the nutzoid right-wing media.
Fuck that. They chose this ideology. They chose what to believe. They decided to be a bunch of scabby pricks. They gotta own that shit. Forgiveness is wasted on those who refuse to believe they need to be forgiven. The more charitable of you might be able to do it, but I'm not fuckin' charitable to these goons and freaks and worms. Donald Trump played 'em like a goddamn fiddle. Hell, he's still playin' them, squeezing them for more cash under the umbrella of his bullshit "voter fraud" lawsuits. Until they wake the fuck up or are woken the fuck up, they need to exist as a warning not to let them get more power than they have and to work like hell to take away their remaining power.
It's time to tell Trump voters to spend a little time trying to understand Biden voters so they can see why we fucking kicked Trump's ass.

(82,383 posts)simply believe it uncritically. How convenient to claim his popular vote loss was solely due to illegal aliens voting. Typical Cheeto. I guess they would drink poisoned Kool Aid if he told them to.

These deplorable need to grow up, learn a few important things and accept that Trump lost.
I don't have any time or patience for anyone who still supports this cretin. Or the Republican Party.
Fuck their feelings.

THAT IS MADNESS, right dar!
These people need deprogrammed big time, and do you think any will volunteer for that after decades of distrust is beat the fuck into their brains?
It pains to still refer to them as people, IKR.
It's like people only -

(4,889 posts)It's like this girl I know at work, when she discovered I was a Democrat her first word was "babykiller" almost under her breath. She'd been taught since she was a baby that Liberal Democrats were babykillers and that was all she needed to know. How do you fight a brainfuck that.

They will need help otherwise this cycle doesn't break, they just eventually die and probably sooner with all that hate inside?

(6,857 posts)Sure, eventually they'll die. But it was their parents who started the brainwashing process on them, and they'll have done it to their children.
Good public education, IMO, has the best chance. Not perfect, but the best.

(5,388 posts)I've made the same transition once I realized the cleanup that needed to be done after the power shifts away from Trump.
There will need to be some serious, Nuremberg style follow ups, with "I was just following orders!" not an acceptable response.
At the very least, some billboards asking questions:
'So Republicans, what did you think was in it for you when you voted for Trump?'
'You voted for Trump? Was it worth while?'
etc

(303 posts)To understand how to fix this, maybe we should look to how the Nazi Party was dismantled in 1945.
First off, Adolf killed himself and Eva -- so he was immediately out of the picture. The analogy with Trump is to charge and convict him and his kids of enough crimes that he will spend the rest of his life in jail, and they will be out of the picture for at least 10+ years.
Secondly, all the major Generals and high level criminals of the Nazi Party were prosecuted at Nuremberg. This needs to happen with the Trump appointees. If any are found guilty of treason, well, you know how that goes.
We have to make examples of these top goons. Without penalties, there is no deterrent to similar acts in the future.
Then, start on reconstruction. We may not have bombed out cities, but we do have an economy and infrastructure in shambles. We have many coal miners, ex-farmers, and ex-manufacturing people who need to be retrained into long-term jobs. Infrastructure construction. Civil Engineering. Alternate energy industry. Robotics. Health care (LPNs/RNs, geriatric specialties, pre-natal wellness, addiction counseling). I don't think we need to fund more IT, blogger, or AI specialists.
The rest of the knuckle-draggers who don't want to progress with the rest of the country have to be left behind. But since a lot of these people dislike masks, eating properly, and avoiding cigarettes, I guess we'll just have to let them extinguish themselves.
That came to mind as well.
trickyguy
(769 posts)so critical of her for saying that. Well, she hit the nail on the head.
They got bad habits, bad education and bad attitudes. Deplorables.
And you're right. Let them self-extinguish.

(1,402 posts)I agree............they have no desire to have a peaceful decent country where people can walk around without fear, where we can enjoy life and each other and live our daily lives as we see fit. It is such a relief for me to think about all of the constant trauma that we lived every single day will be ending. Maybe we can again think about buying groceries, what to fix for dinner, planting gardens and flowers, having peaceful visits with each other and family members, going out to eat once in a while and just sitting down and having a quiet cup of coffee with a friend, and dealing with all of our own health issues!!

Con jobs people fall for. I wonder how many are Republicans?
Only Democrats raise taxes. Republicans care about America and Americans. Business pays it's fair share. The moon landing was a hoax.
But the biggest con job so far in history, other than the check's in the mail, is Donald Trump just existing - well, maybe second to organized religion.

She told us then and I tried to spread the word about her work.
And the operative word here is "dangerous". Very appro pos for today's drama which
is playing out all over the country and the world. Trump is a narcissistic danger to our Democracy.
And these shitty people are still buying his con. No excuses for them now.

I know there are all other sources out there, but if there is proof that the MSM is actually FACT BASED, then we can tell them their other sources just don't meet the same journalistic standards, so it's basically lies.

These people earned our scorn and derision, fair and square. Letting them off easy just guarantees that this fascist nightmare will be repeated---and I don't think this country will survive that.
