Would the release of previously classified information by subject to charges?

Could Trump and those who have been recently appointed based on their agreement to declassify documents which could be a threat to the nation's national defense be subject to prosecution? Would that be bridging on outright treason? Just because he has the ability to declassify documents does that exonerate him from the responsibility of the oath he took to protect the constitution and the nation against enemies either foreign or domestic?

Perhaps someone with legal experience could help with this issue.
