Trump's law firm pulls out in Arizona, amid claims president knows fight is over

(Independent UK) Donald Trump’s lawyers in Arizona have pulled out of a suit challenging part of the US election vote counting process in Arizona’s Maricopa County.

A judge granted Snell & Wilmer’s request to withdraw as counsel of record for the Republican National Committee, which together with the Trump campaign and the Arizona Republican Party had brought legal action alleging the county incorrectly rejected a small number of votes cast on election day.

It came amid claims Mr Trump was “very aware there is not a path to victory” over Joe Biden – which did not prevent the outgoing president from continuing to spread false and misleading claims on Twitter on Thursday. ............(more)

All they can do at this point is damage control.

Self dealing. Illegal contributions. Illegal transfers if money.

There’s no way there wasn’t a lot of illegal activity.

Doesn’t his campaign have to pay for these legal fees? I agree with you. He must have missed a payment and they cut him off both because they knew the campaign was bankrupt and he cheats anyway and because of the bad publicity and legal risk of these frivolous suits.

There are rules of ethics an attorney must follow.

For instance, if a criminal defense attorney walks into an interview room to meet his new client who's looking at a murder charge, and the first thing the client say is, "Look bro, I'm guilty as hell but you got to get me off on this charge...", the attorney can't go to court and argue the client is not guilty.

Likewise, here, the attorney was hired to argue a legal case that something "illegal" occurred with the voting or vote counting and if "remedied", the client prevail in the vote tally. But if Trump is telling people he knows he can't overturn the results with these lawsuits, then the suit is not being brought in goof faith and the attorney is likely violating the State Bar cannon of ethics.

No attorney with a brain want's to be hauled before the State Bar and charged with violating the cannon of ethics like this.
