I think I'd be reluctantly OK with a truth and reconciliation process: The Trump Org reveals all in exchange for no punishment.

I'd reluctantly oppose that. I fear we reinforce all 'norm erosion' of the past 5 years if we don't prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. It is almost certainly the case that most of the Trump Admin and family belong in prison for decades. Let the legal process determine.

If there is no punishment for those crimes, what example does that set for future leaders?

Isn't that what part of the punitive justice system is about; providing a disincentive? That's almost like asking for abuse of the system with a get out of jail free card.

Five (at least three being Senators) is the going rate for a walk away. I have my three in mind (Graham, McConnell, and Johnson).

I would love to see a tearful Justice Kennedy describing how he was blackmailed to give up his beloved SC seat. Won't happen but I would love to see it.

while letting corruption go unpunished. It is an open invitation for more of the same down the road. Why should anyone follow the rules if there are no consequences for breaking them?

Meanwhile, many of the same players will be back, having learned nothing, except anything goes and no one pays. We can't keep making the same mistakes over and over again.

If these criminals are allowed to get away with their many crimes, and we have even ONE person in jail for pot possession, we are ONE FUCKED UP COUNTRY.

I’m not a fan of mass incarnation, but white collar criminal have to start doing prison time.

Corrupt politicians have to do prison time.

Anything less triggers more corruption. Take the risk, make a ton of money, get caught and pay no real price? Financial penalties don’t cut it and this is proposing less than that.

Lack of punishment lets idiots claim the allegations were false.

Resentment at the lack of justice pushes people to do dumb things. The lack of prosecutions for the 2008 crisis allowed the tea party to form.

These crimes are morally treason. Betrayal of the country merits pursuing the stiffest possible penalties.

Don’t know this Davidson guy, but he strikes me as being as clueless as thomas friedman.

Certainly there is more that's being hidden. No way can they be allowed to avoid what they deserve in consequences.
