He is proud of Stacey and also proud that Georgia can still produce a person that has the character and intelligence to follow his footsteps to the WH. She will remember this moment the rest of her life and inspire her in the great future she has in front of her. (Jimmy would probably teach her how to grow peanuts if she asked him).

My first vote was cast for Jimmy Carter and he has been a touchstone throughout my adult life.

President Carter is one of the finest men to ever hold the office of the presidency. His life afterwards has been a model of selfless living.

He's a giant.

Want proof that the world is not fair, ex-president Jimmy Carter, president Ronald Reagan.

I turned 18 and there was/is still only one choice...the Dem! Voted Dem down ballot in every single election, local and fed. Dems show both brains and empathy. It doesn't have to be one or the other.

Nothing came easy to Carter - but he never abandoned his principles.

And his efforts on energy were decisive in popping the OPEC bubble in March 1980 - which made the "Reagan recovery" possible.

with a broken leg on election day. I begged the county clerk for an absentee ballot for him. I mean, who plans ahead for a broken leg? She gave me a ballot for him, and a deadline to turn it in. I drove seventy-five miles round trip WITH A BABY, to get his vote and the ballot turned in. The county clerk smiled at me and was always warm and friendly after that.

Of course, we both voted for Carter.

paying the same BS game for 40 years....most of my life. I am tired but angry, the GOP brings out the fighter in me, and I'm a pacifist! My grandmother HATED Nancy Reagun for over 20 years. She was 101 when she got dementia and forgot who Reagun was. I wish I could forget all of this.

It takes a rare form of character to pull oneself up from great disappointment and loss and direct one's energy into the service of others.

This is not to say that Carter and Abrams were not motivated by a desire to serve when they each ran their unsuccessful races. But to lose out on a chance to exert obvious power in one's own name and then dedicate one's life to putting power into other people's hands is greatness at an elevated level.

BHO could possibly cross into that charmed circle, but he has a LOT to accomplish to be mentioned in the same breath. A much more accomplished President, but I'm talking about perfecting the human condition, not the political.
