Andrew Yang to be jailed in Georgia soon...

??

Gabriel Sterling, Georgia's voting system manager, said during a Thursday press conference that there has been "discussion about people coming in from out of state" to "help Georgia," naming 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang as "the most famous" example.

-----------------------------------------------
"In order to be able to register to vote in Georgia, you have to be a Georgia resident," he said. "That means you have to believe you are staying in Georgia."

Those who try to vote in Georgia while merely visiting the state may face felony charges punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.

1. GOP-run Swing States will soon have new legislation proposing much longer residency requirements

before you're allowed to vote.

Book it. Probably drafted by ALEC or whatever it goes by now.

BTW how the hell do you enforce an 'intend to stay' rule in a law?

I believe in a lot of things. Someone prove that I don't believe in those things.

I figure unless you say you don't believe, it is pretty much stoopid law.

That was stoopid of me. Although things here are such that it would be nearly impossible to move so quickly.

2. I call bullshit on this. Residency is a matter of intent. See, e.g., Cheney's move

but yeah, it's all stupid. FL requires you have bills at your Florida residence and thing like bank statements etc. to establish residency.

It was several weeks before we moved down. This was like 24 years ago.

just projection. Bet them fundys from Tenn, Alabama, and SC 'move' there to vote and then go back to their s-hole.

Yang just said he was moving there to help, they just assume he is going to do what they were probably already going to do or probably have been doing.

As far as I know, Yang didn’t say anything about registering to vote.

12. Thinking About Moving to Georgia to Vote in Runoffs? Better Hurry and Plan to Stay
Sat Nov 14, 2020, 10:34 PM
Nov 2020
ATLANTA — The two Senate runoff races under way in Georgia give Democrats a chance to flip seats currently held by Republicans, and some activists on social media have discussed the prospect of moving to the Peach State to vote in the Jan. 5 elections.

Former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang already announced on Twitter that he and his wife are moving to Georgia to campaign for the Democratic candidates, Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, against Republican Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler. He did not say whether he planned to register to vote in the state.

All the chatter raises the question: Is it legal?

The answer is: yes, but any potential voters would have to move quickly since the last day to be registered for the Jan. 5 contests is Dec. 7. And, the new resident also would have to stay in the state for a while or risk getting into trouble.

14. To Be Enforceable, "You Have To Intend To Stay" Has To Be Written In The Statute
Sat Nov 14, 2020, 11:33 PM
Nov 2020

If it doesn't actually say that in the language of the law, then it doesn't exist. And what's to keep people from saying, "Well, I DID intend to stay, but circumstances changed and I had to leave. Oops."

Every statute I've ever seen just talks about length of residency in terms of how long you have to live in the State BEFORE you can vote. It doesn't say anything about what you do afterward.

Not that it matters, because I'm sure all the people talking about moving to Georgia are doing so just to work there for the run-off.

but I bet with all these projecting pukes, they are doing fraud and voting as dead people or what have you. It just fits their character.
