Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter appeared on Starting Point Wednesday morning, where she was asked to respond to yesterdays release of a 2007 video showing then-candidate Barack Obama discussing the Stafford Act and the response to Hurricane Katrina.
Th Romney campaign, as host Soledad OBrien noted, recently released a statement saying it is not involved in distributing the video. Cutter responded, pointing to who she thinks is responsible:
Well, I think allies to Mitt Romney are responsible and I think that the Romney campaign should stand up and do the right thing and say that it was irresponsible to do something like that, particularly on the eve of the debate.
And it was so transparent, what they were trying to do. Mitt Romney has been taking heat for weeks now for his secret comments behind closed doors with his wealthy donors that he didnt care about half of this country. Their answer to that is to put out an already publicly-released speech that the President gave five years ago where he was talking about the reaction to Hurricane Katrina and the inadequate reaction to Hurricane Katrina. You know what, its an interesting strategy by Mitt Romney and his allies that they actually want to defend the Bush administration response.

(13,776 posts)I've only seen clips on TV of, apparently, the parts that the GOP thinks are interesting--criticizing the Bush administration's response to Katrina, which I thought the entire world agreed with--but I've read the transcript and there doesn't seem to be anything there either.
Edited to add: Is it the fact that he referred, briefly, to Jeremiah Wright? Good lord, that really does smack of desperation.

(86,005 posts)The Romney campaign is campaigning against the ghosts and strawmen they've erected among their caucus and among their ilk; a deliberately false narrative and portrait about Barack Obama that they've convinced their narrow minds is real and relevant; and they've set about presenting all of these as if the rest of America hasn't already been fed this garbage and spit out long time ago.
I think of their stubborn insistence in lobbing all of these lame attacks as a campaign strategy as a 'Vietnamization' of politics, where they've convinced themselves that a 'win' or victory is within reach; if only they refuse to hold anything back; just keep bombing the civilians and the landscape until somebody salutes their flag.
They should have gotten a clue from the evolution of the term, 'Obamacare' in the President's favor. Reminds of Saigon, later named by the survivors of that war, Ho Chi Minh City.

That was the race baiting, instead they have gotten a lot of people in the blogosphere and even...in the Steph Millsr show, something to point fingers and have a good laugh.

Well, for the small percentage of die-hard racists and 1%ers, maybe. But personally it seems to me that it will only help Obama....and all dems down ticket. BWAH!HA!HA!HA!HA! IDJITS!!!!!

(22,651 posts)with Katrina we had 1,000s of people in traffic jams during the couple days before hurricane running out of gas, no water, no money, heat stroke killing some of them. Then that hurricane and still nothing from Bush. If it wasn't for the regular people and the coast guard on their own helping, even more would have died.
