...to re-signature verification. Which can't be done now because the envelopes are separate from the ballots.

Note that "signature verification" is a voter suppression tactic to invalidate peoples votes, the idea behind it was that poor people can't write good signatures, and therefore at some point they could use it to contest and invalidate their votes.

Everything they fucking do is corrupt.

I haven't used handwriting in 20 years, only very sporadically. It's crazy that they would want to force people to signature verify. Which is why the courts have only said that as long as it has 'a' signature, it's a valid vote (because people can chicken scratch their signature).

Note: the way you tell if there are valid votes is if 1) the voter is registered and 2) the registered voter voted. There is no other necessary step for this. You don't need to ID verify (you can show your registered status by virtue of your address being where you received the ballot), you don't need to signature verify.

Imagine if PA required it, they would still be counting.

And then there's no science to it. None whatsoever. It's purely a voter rejection / disenfranchisement tactic that the Republicans have invented.

barring a major systematic problem and there is zero evidence of that here. Think of it this way. Say you are counting 100 pennies, there is some possibility that you will end up saying there are 101 or 99 pennies by mistake. So there is a non trivial chance of you making a 1% error. Now say you and a bunch of other people, or even a machine or machines are counting 5,000,000 pennies. Sure there is a good chance you will off by a few, likely a way better chance than in the counting of 100, but there is virtually no chance you will be off by 10,000 which would be 0.2%. If you assigned the task of counting 100 pennies to 50,000 people to be off by 10,000 1/5 of them would have to be off by 1. That is pretty much impossible. Now, if there is a systematic problem, every 2000th penny is being thrown away or stolen, then yes, you can end up off by 10,000. But there is no evidence at all that this is occurring.

Which is why it's a travesty that Trump is parroting this conspiracy bullshit. Never agreed with it when it came to voting machines (though I have advocated paper only for awhile now). Would debate people over 2004 voting machine claims. I don't take kindly to people shitting on our poll workers (many of whom here have done that very valuable civic duty). I don't like this shitting on our foundation of our democracy with no reason except being a sore loser.

how much of that vote shift is caused by human error? I would think a machine count would be much more accurate.

Having worked one shift tallying absentee (mail in) ballots, the process was very straight forward. Two people speaking the candidates name on a ballot, putting that ballot in a candidate pile, putting the second page in a second page pile. Then taking the candidate pile, audibly counting the physical ballots, recording them on a tally sheet. Validate our counts versus previous machine counts and repackage absentee ballots. Any "questionable" ballots were handed over for adjudication.

Watching tables handling election day ballots, the process appeared to be the same.

Remember, this was the first significant election using new equipment. The two previous elections this year were a party primary, then a primary run-off both with much smaller voter turn outs.

and attacking Georgia's Republican Secretary of State and Lieutenant Governor.

To his credit, Georgia's Republican Secretary of State is firing back, confirming the legitimacy of Georgia's vote and calling Trump dipshit Doug Collins and out-and-out liar.
