Man tased, arrested by New Braunfels police officer for having an 'unclean license plate'

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas - Officials in New Braunfels released body camera footage Monday of an officer pulling a gun on a man for having, what they described as, 'an unclean license plate.'

During a press conference Monday morning involving at City Hall in the Council Chambers, showed compelling video of a Jan. 2020 incident.

In the video, Officer Kaleb Meyer with the New Braunfels Police Department is seen pointing a gun at Clarence Crawford and screaming at him to keep both hands on the wheel before grabbing him by the hand and demanding he get out of the vehicle.

Confused, Crawford begins wondering what it is he’s being pulled over for and repeatedly asks Officer Meyer to put his gun away. That's when the officer opens Crawford's door and is seen holding his arm, indicating to pull him out of the car but Crawford says he has his seatbelt on and asks permission to put his phone down so he may remove his seatbelt while simultaneously telling the Meyer to ensure him he will not be shot when he does.

The officer is then seen pulling Crawford out of the car and putting him on the ground.

Crawford then asks for what the reason is for him to get on the ground and is shortly tased in the leg before asking once again why Meyer is pulling him over and what it is he did exactly.
