Toilet paper, disinfectant and groceries are once again flying off the shelves across the United States with states forced to impose stricter lockdowns and the number of new COVID-19 cases spiking to 166,000 Monday.
Pictures taken in recent days show stores in Washington, California, Virginia, Indiana, Ohio, New Jersey, New York, Michigan and Missouri have all been affected by the rush. It is the second time this year that shoppers appear to be panic buying; stores were left scrambling to restock shelves wiped out in response to COVID-19 back in March.
But experts say the run is likely to be less severe this time as stores and shoppers are more prepared. Subodha Kumar, a supply chain expert at Temple University, told The Daily Beast: 'People have already hoarded a lot of this stuff in their basements.'
Target, Santa Clara County, California: Toilet paper, disinfectant and groceries are already flying off the shelves across the United States. A picture taken at this California Target over the weekend show the aisles have already been cleared of stock
North Miami, Florida: This Costco store on Tuesday had bleach, Lysol, alcohol, gloves or Clorox Wipes

(128,905 posts)including tissues, paper towels, and TP. Also stuff like flour, sugar, and rice.
There is nothing more jarring than what happened this past spring when I went to my local supermarket and the shelves in aisle after aisle were bare, including the produce AND meat sections that had empty refrigerated bins.
Can't fit anymore in my little deep freezer and my regular freezer and fridge are packed. Even got some new seeds to start some tender herbs like basil and cilantro that I use for recipes and brought my little jalapeno pepper plants in.

(2,220 posts)And since Ive been stealth hoarding all summer (buy tp one week, paper towels the next), I skipped those and bought the first bottle of isopropyl alcohol Ive seen since this began..and more bottles of hand sanitizer.
We honestly dont have room for much in our house. We have a lot of grains, and the freezer is full of freezer meals. Its the best we can do.

(12,369 posts)their trailers from their distribution center just north of Barstow to the greater Las Vegas area and their Pahrump, NV. stores again, and they're paying top dollar.
I just had my truck inspected by WalMart truck mechanics today and passed with flying colors, picked up a trailer and will be on my way tomorrow to their Pahrump store.

(12,369 posts)I suspect that I'll be just as busy as the last time they contracted my truck to haul their trailers, but they sure do pay good, and they let us independents use their facilities to clean up and they let us use their parking lots to get some rest.

(12,629 posts)has been marked as not available. Im finding, however, that some items are available on Amazon, but just not on S & S. Other items are available from supermarket delivery. My diet is very restricted due to serious food intolerances, but Ive been able to get everything I need, one way or another.

Life long camper here - retired now, but still got the habits from camping and living 6 years in the boonies.
Well stocked with dried goods, canned goods - 2 fridges and a freezer - genny (and gas) if needed
