Katy Tur asked if perhaps Trump was trying to sabotage the Biden administration....
Didja come up with that question all by yourself???
Many years ago, then-Senator John Heinzs plane crashed in a schoolyard in Lower Merion on the Main Line of Philadelphia. The ABC affiliate, channel 6, right down the street from the school, sent its crack reporters over to the horror scene. I witnessed on live tv the following, and Im not paraphrasing much if at all:
Reporter to mother crying, holding her kindergarten child in her arms who is trembling and shaking having just witnessed classmates being horribly burned and others killed: What went through your mind when you heard that an airplane had crashed into the playground where your child was out at recess??
Mother to reporter on live tv: What the fuck do you THINK went through my mind you idiot? This is my CHILD. This is my LIFE YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE!!
And away she went.... he was speechless.
This SHOULD be the equivalent response to stupid questions. But rarely is

(40,238 posts)it is often an idiot producer talking in the ear of the person on television telling them to ask a stupid question. Of course that doesnt make the question any less stupid.

(38,958 posts)during Desert Storm about a book we were selling at the time on the opposing forces tables of organization and such. I can tell you my experience is the on air talent is pretty clueless (with lots of space between the ears). The folks who actually understand what is going on with the interview and the world are the camera men/women (who were often older and much more experienced). I learned then that at any TV interview work with the camera operators to get real story told.
