(16,394 posts)He really, truly is. He's garbage, he's raw sewage, the scum of the earth.
I wish I had a dollar for every pundit I've heard say, "Don't worry, keep calm, nothing he's doing can possibly work." Even Barack Obama in the interview tonight said, "Joe Biden will be the next president and Kamala Harris will be the next vice president" very firmly and confidently. Part of me says surely Obama AND all those pundits can't all be wrong, but there's another part of me that can't stop being tied up in knots over this election denial crap. After watching him pull all kinds of crap that I never would have been able to imagine if I tried and getting away with every damed bit of it (so far), it's hard not to worry that he could pull this off, too. I mean, I still don't understand how he got away with half the other stuff, you know?
I just keep remembering how absolutely confident Obama looked and sounded when he talked about it tonight. Surely he knows what he's talking about, right? Right? Please be right, Barack. Please, please be right!

(2,647 posts)For exercising a power they hold pursuant to the U.S. Constitution?
That sounds like summary judgment for the defendants.
If Michigan does it, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania can't be far behind.

(26,044 posts)He's right in that the state legislature has no role in certifying elections. He's wrong in that they do have the authority to appoint electors if the results of that election "cannot be determined" -- in other words, if the results aren't certified. And those results have to be certified by the statewide board of canvassers which, like the Wayne County one, is made up of two Democrats and two Republicans. If the two Republicans hold firm in refusing to certify until the "safe harbor" date specified in the Constitution (which I believe is December 8), the state legislature is completely free to legally award the state's electors to Trump.

(14,490 posts)I admit I'm not well versed on the law, but if the legislature appointed new electors, then would it not be up to those new electors as to who won?
Further, if an election "cannot be determined" for Joe Biden, how is it that it could be determined for tRump?
Maybe I'm being too rational and logical.......
