Essentially the equivalent of a couchette on an overnight train.

(53,928 posts)Who would want to climb into the middle or top berth? Not me. And the video doesn't explain how one gets into those top berths. Where are ladders? Many passengers won't be physically able to used them.
And what about going to the bathroom?

(5,815 posts)Maybe you could have a potty visit before napping.
As for how you get in that top bunk, I envisioned myself getting in the bunk and immediately thought ....no way. Maybe there are some hidden steps? Or a ladder? Is there a seatbelt? How do you avoid disturbing your bunk mates if you have to go to the bathroom again? Do you pay extra for the opportunity to nap?? Lots of questions, not many answers.

(53,928 posts)The 3-deep sleeper configuration is not as desirable as the rail compartments shown in your post though.

(46,110 posts)On a train, you wouldn't share it with a stranger.
I guess lying down above or below a stranger isn't stranger than sitting next to one on a super long flight.
It looks as if there will only be room for a few people to use it at a time. I guess that's why they say "nap," but who's going to clean it between people? I don't think I want to lie down on a bed someone I don't know has just been on.

(94,827 posts)US trains have single bed (Roomettes) and double bed (Sleeper) rooms.
European and Asian trains have Couchettes (4-6 sleeping benches in a compartment) and private sleeper rooms.

(34,139 posts)The seats folded out to make one berth, then a shelf folded down for the second one. The biggest problem my husband and I had was that there was not enough leg room for my tall husband to share with me. It also had a little toilet that extended from the wall with a tiny sink above it.
We upgraded to an accessible room on the way back - a longer couch so we sat side by side that folded down for the lower berth, then a shelf that became the upper one - plus a private bathroom, sink, toilet, and a shower that used the entire space.
