If your teen daughter's friend's father said this to your child, what would you think?

From the Vanity Fair article written by a school friend of Ivanka's:

Though he never remembered my name, he seemed to have a photographic memory for changes in my body. I’ll never forget the time Ivanka and I were having lunch with her brothers at Mar-a-Lago one day, and while Mr. Trump was saying hi, Don Jr. swiped half a grilled cheese sandwich off my plate. Ivanka scolded him, but Mr. Trump chimed in, “Don’t worry. She doesn’t need it. He’s doing her a favor.” Conversely, he’d usually congratulate me if I’d lost weight.
https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2020/11/ivanka-trump-was-my-best-friend-now-shes-maga-royalty

Can you imagine being that teenager, and having your friend's FATHER say that to you, to your face? Instant mortification and a lifelong therapy topic!

I suggest remembering this anecdote, and relating it to the MAGAt Trumphumpers in your life. A very simple story to tell that illustrates who that man is. They might high-five his "locker" talk about grown women, but when put in context of their teenaged daughter, it might suddenly hit home.

Just ask them: "Say, just curious; how would you feel if a man said this to your teen daughter?"

(now long regretted). I imagine tweener Ivanka's puzzlement as, one by one, her junior high BFFs are forbidden by their mothers from attending her sleepovers, fearful of the presence of her creepy father.

But when she proved to be just an opportunistic apologist ("oh he does that" when asked about his invasion of the Miss Teen USA changing rooms), my sympathy for the Princess evaporated pretty quickly.

I think most people are born tabula rasa. There are very few people who are really born defective, but I think he was one of them. On top of that, he had a brutal, unloving, cruel father and an absent mother, but how many people have been dealt those same cards and have not turned out as sick as Donald Trump?

In fact, there are children who have been through much worse than he has been through and have come out of it much better. They have grown up to be wonderful people. Then there are people who are psychopaths like Donald and usually they find that there was some kind of brain abnormality that accounts for their sickness. I am not a professional, so I don't know for sure. I only know what I have read. But I honestly believe he was a bad seed. And he will never change. He will only get worse.

You can't expect Trumphumpers to reasonably perform the mental exercise you'd be asking of them there. It would involve the concept of empathy, but unfortunately their brains are not sophisticated enough to make such connections.

Their response would be more like:
"I'd thank him if she had been getting porky! Also obviously she's making up all kinds of lies about Trump because he hurt her feelings once when she was a little girl. What a snowflake!"

It's just such a simple, precise, visceral illustration.

*ALL* adult females can relate to having been a teenaged girl. Without exception. Empathy or not.

Men with daughters can be *expected* to maybe be able to relate (obviously that doesn't preclude anyone else from understanding, as well, but it's the "at minimum" qualification).

In my experience, these people are all far more defective than I think you may be imagining.

You're projecting upon them an ability for empathy that they simply do not possess.

But by all means, give it a shot.

Let me know how that works out

9. From the old "grab them by the ...." story:
Fri Nov 20, 2020, 04:34 PM
Nov 2020

There's a house down my street where a family has 2 young daughters who were 3 & 5 in 2016. Lovely family and we live on a cul-de-sac and I'm at the "turn-around" end while they're in the middle of it all. I saw them all out on the street one day teaching the girls to ride their bikes. I suggested they come up to the end of the street (3 houses away) so as to have a better view of traffic and a better chance of having to get the girls out of the way of any cars. They DID do that and it was the perfect place for them to ride.

Later in the year (again, 2016) I saw a "TRUMP" sign in their front yard. Couldn't believe it!

(Here's where I blew it - "no guts/no glory" ) I NEVER approached them about that - and it bothers me to this day! How could ANY FATHER of any daughter (OK, yeah, how could ANY THINKING HUMAN BEING.........) support that HOG??????

And yes, the signs were out there again this year.

I still "wave" driving by - the girls wave back, as do their parents, but still.................

WHAT DRIVES A MIND TO SUPPORT SUCH AN IMMORAL PERSON?
