Depressed Trump Breaks Down And Rants Election Conspiracies During Press Conference

"SNIP.....
Trump was supposed to be announcing new rules on drug prices, but he claimed that Big Pharma and the media conspired against him in the election.
Trump said:
Big Pharma ran millions of dollars of negative advertisements against me during the campaign. Which I won, by the way. We will find that out. Almost 74 million votes. We had Big Pharma against us and the media and big tech against us. We had a lot of dishonesty against us. Big Pharma alone ran millions of dollars of ads. I said who is it? I have never seen anything like it.
I told them I will have to do this. I was put here to do a job. Pfizer and others were way ahead on vaccines. You would not have a vaccine if were not for me for another 4 years. The FDA would have never been able to do what they did. What I forced them to do. Pfizer and others even decided to not assess the results of their vaccine, to not come out with a vaccine until just after the election. Thats because of what I did with favored nations and these other elements.
Trumps comments match up with Rudy Giulianis conspiracies and reports that the President is obsessed with the Dominion voting machines conspiracy theory. It is not difficult to understand why Trump lost. He is the first president in the history of polling to never have a single day with a 50% approval rating from a credible non-partisan poll.

(23,292 posts)Now it's, he "forced" the drug companies to act? "You would not have a vaccine if were not for me for another 4 years" What the Hell does that mean?

President Trump Remarks on Prescription Drug Prices
President Trump announced two new federal rules to reduce prescription drug prices for patients. The administration also announced that Pfizer applied with the FDA for emergency use authorization for its COVID-19 vaccine. Earlier in the week, the drug company announced that its research showed the two-dose vaccine is 95 percent effective in preventing illness.

(16,926 posts)we would see how the 25th Amendment works.
getagrip_already
(14,743 posts)It's a vp and then cabinet play. Congress only gets involved if the potus tries to claim power back.
Impeachment is the answer though. But we don't have a senate at the moment.
MyOwnPeace
(16,926 posts)but then again, really, isn't there SOMEBODY out there feeling the need to do so?
getagrip_already
(14,743 posts)Impeachment only requires a simple majority in the house, and a 2/3 vote in the senate to convict.
The 25th can only be initiated by the vp, and has to be approved by a majority of the cabinet. Then, if the potus objects and says he/she is fit, it takes a 2/3 vote in both the house and senate to prevent him/her from regaining power. Also, there doesn't seem to be a limit on how many times a potus can make that petition, potentially tying congress up for months.
Impeachment and conviction can also prevent an individual from ever serving in any role in the gov't again by a simple majority after conviction.

(16,926 posts)OMG! Can you imagine the amount of debate that would have occurred in Philadelphia if THAT was brought up to the "Founding Fathers?"
It is pretty frustrating to see what has transpired in the past 4 years and to realize that we CAN allow ourselves to drift SO CLOSE to an Imperial Monarchy - the very thing that the "Founding Fathers" were fighting against.
And even when we have rid ourselves of this present curse, I don't see the political will existing to correct the flaws in the current system. As I had seen somewhere else, "A smarter person than Trump would be our Dictator by now."
GAWD help us!

(17,862 posts)VP and the Cabinet. Congress then would have to sustain it by 2/3rds in each House.
What we need is a functioning Senate where enough GOP Senators join the Democratic Senators for impeachment.
The messaging should be that everything he is doing now is an extension of the impeachment which never received a fair hearing in the Senate. They knew what they had and they would have had time to recover as a party before the General Election (as a side benefit - maybe the Executive might have done their job better on Covid).

If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.

(3,334 posts)Here and other places there is a comma before the "or". That means what is written before the comma is not included in "by force". Commas are very important. It is a comma in the 2nd Amendment that allows civilians to own guns.

(11,736 posts)We might be like South Korea, or New Zealand if we had a competent President like Hillary Clinton. You don't think Clinton would have jumped on it and try to actually shut down the spread of the pandemic.
Hillary would not be a panacea, and we would likely have been hit hard anyway, but We would not be on track to losing 300,000 Americans in less than a year from COVID-19. Plus, Hillary would also have prompted vaccine makers to expedite the process, and would likely have had the CDC and FDA highly coordinated with the efforts instead of changing guidelines for political reasons.
The man is truly an idiot.

Quit fucking taking credit for things you didn't do and start taking responsibility for all that you haven't done. I would call you a totally worthless human being, but sadly you are far worse than worthless. So many lives have been ruined because of you. Go away alredy.

(53 posts)Hasn't the Georgia hand recount completely destroyed Powell's argument?
If votes had been switched, the recount would have revealed it. I am not American (I am Finn living in Finland) and unfamiliar of your practices so bear with me.
In Georgia and elsewhere, don't the voting machines create paper copy of the vote?
And this paper ballot is then checked by voter and scanned? And if there were errors or votes switched, wouldn't the hand recount immediately revealed them when scanners and machines weren't used?
And Powell's argument was that "millions" of votes had been changed by George Soros and Venezuelan communists.
If this had happened, then the Georgia hand recount of these voter checked paper ballots would have revealed the discrepancies, right? And since there was no change in tally from the original result, isn't it the only possibility that this theory of votes switched is completely bonkers?
How is it possible this theory is still being presented by Trump supporters when it isn't even theoretically possible. Am I missing something or have people gone completely mad?
