Trump legal adviser Jenna Ellis busted for fake Teddy Roosevelt quote: 'How are you a lawyer?'

Published 5 mins ago on November 25, 2020By Travis Gettys- Commentary

One of President Donald Trump’s legal advisers tweeted out a debunked quote she attributed to Teddy Roosevelt, and was widely mocked by other social media users.

Jenna Ellis, who’s advising the president and his attorney Rudy Giuliani in their bid to overturn the election results, shared a meme that purports to show the former president’s views on liberals and conservatives.

“To anger a conservative, lie to him,” the meme says. “To anger a liberal, tell him the truth.”

However, historians have found no record of Roosevelt saying those words, which appear to have been in print since about 2007, and Ellis insisted the origins of the quote don’t matter.

He was combative, to be sure, but not like that.

He was about equal measure conservative and liberal.

Just more bullshit from the right...

that lives in an alternative reality and made the expression "alternative facts" famous. They are the ones that literally argued that "truth isn't truth". That tool Ellis is fighting in court right now because they cannot accept reality.

that conservatives happily embrace lies of all kinds.

And liberals have an annoying tendency to embrace truth.

Weird.

A conservationist, yes. A conservative, no.
He was a trust buster, for goodness sake!
He wouldn't have said something insulting liberals, because he pretty much was one, for his time.

Anger the conservatives by telling them COVID is a Chinese hoax and the great President Trump is being attacked my a Deep State conspiracy.
Anger liberals by telling them our country has the most incompetent President in history and the entire GOP as well as almost half the voters full support his crimes.

One is a lie , one is true.

Ellis is not the sharpest tack in the box.

The origin of a quote doesn't matter?

SO a quote from say, Albert Einstein or Stephen Hawking on a scientific paradigm has the same weight as some no name who flunked 7th grade science?

Of course the origin matters. If it didn't matter, then why put an image onto the quote. You are by that very act, trying to imbue the quote with more power.

Also Ms. Jenna the word Liberal was seen as a positive by both Democratic politicians AND Republicans up until the 1980's, so Roosevelt would not have had that mode of thinking in the 1900's.
