Mark Kelly is an admirable guy.

Why so early? I thought newly elected Members and Senators commenced 1st Jan.

I think Kelly is going to have to run for re-election in 2022.

Two, count 'em, two Democratic Senators from Arizona, both elected by defeating McSally, a pure Trumper idiot.

I can't believe I lived long enough to see that.

McSally actually showed good sportsmanship by resigning early. Because Mark Kelly was sworn in before the official start of the next Congress a month from now, he will have slightly more seniority than the other Senate freshmen, which counts for something on committee appointments and the like. McSally could have held onto her seat top the bitter end and deprived him of that extra help but she was very gracious about it.
