the more ridiculous his claims sound. Now, he's blaming his own DOJ and FBI for his loss. Bill Barr? Where is Bill Barr, anyhow? He seems to have fled the interview. The FBI? Well Trump pretty much disabled the FBI, really, by disparaging it.
Donald J. Trump is terrified. That's clear. He has lost, and will soon be out of office and out on his own. He has destroyed all of his bridges on the way in and during his term, so they aren't available to him as he leaves. He has thrown everyone under his massive little bus, and there's nobody to stand behind him now.
He is desperate, but has no idea of what he can do. Where will he go? How much money does he owe, and to what people? He can't repay his debts. He will no longer have any shelter, nor any power to help those to whom he owes so much.
What will he do? Even those who surround him are backing away from him, since they are tainted by their very presence near the ruined man.
I revel in his fear and desperation. Truly I do.
Beware, Donald! January 20 is just around the corner. What will you do? What will you do?

I think a major conflict, martial law, suspension of the government transition are all within the realm of possibility within the next seven weeks with this traitor to the Constitution.

MineralMan
(146,288 posts)There are enough people who would simply refuse to go along with him on those ideas. At some point, people will simply tell him "No!" in no uncertain terms. They aren't going end their careers or risk prosecution for the SOB.
He'll leave on January 20, if not before. I suspect that he'll leave by resignation, if only to get that invaluable pardon from Pence. If he doesn't, he risks spending the rest of his life in prison. He risks that, anyhow, but he can cut the risk with a pardon. He has already been told that a self-pardon will probably not stand up, probably by Bill Barr or someone in the SCOTUS.

They don't want to use force because they're afraid it will hurt his little feelings or anger his millions of fans or some BS reason. It will be a stupid standoff that will last for weeks.

(783 posts)Desperate people do desperate things. God, I hope it never happens, but I could see him inciting his cult into rising up and beg them to come to his rescue. If he did this, hopefully they immediately remove him and place him into custody, but it wont stop violence from breaking out, might even make things worse. Im sure it will be small to medium incidents that should be quickly put down, but it could be a scary time.

(53,774 posts)but the time for that was when Wolf Blitzer first called the race for Joe Biden on the Saturday after Nov. 3.
He didn't. He's all talk and so are they. Just as he got draft deferments because of his alleged bone spurs, he wants no part of armed conflict where he might get hurt, or have to make key decisions.
He'll leave the White House quietly, and I for one, hope he leaves before Jan. 20 and doesn't befoul the inauguration with his presence.

JUST IN: DOJ has moved to dismiss the Flynn case and released a copy of Trump's pardon document.
Remarkably sweeping language for the pardon. It absolves Flynn of lying to the FBI and also:
"any and all possible offenses arising from the facts set forth ... or that might arise, or be charged, claimed or asserted" baed on the Mueller investigation or any grand juries.

(146,288 posts)That's why I think he'll end up choosing resignation, so he gets to decide. If he resigns, he can't be "put out" of the White House. He can leave on his own, based on his own decision.
And then there's Pence's pardon - a very valuable commodity for Trump. He can't get that unless he resigns.

(25,816 posts)Well, that's gone--his name has been torn off of some buildings. His golf courses and properties are failing
and his creditors know that he has zero collateral. The Russians that covered his loans at Deutsche Bank
are probably thinking about ways to do a hit on him and he knows it.
Right now, a federal prison is the safest place he can go.
MineralMan
(146,288 posts)He still has a number of options, really. He could resign, which is what I expect, sometime close to inauguration day. He could walk out of the White House and disappear, essentially, but that's not his style. He could leave the country permanently, probably to someplace where he has a Trump property he actually owns and is not encumbered by enormous debt. I don't know if there is such a property, though.
There's little to be gained by someone like Putin assassinating him, so that seems unlikely to me.
If he resigns and is pardoned, he won't end up in a Federal Prison, which is why I think he'll decide to do that.
Once he is out of power, his "friends" will all disappear, though. Of that I'm certain. They will no longer have anything to gain by associating with him. Just ask yourself where Bill Barr has gone. He has already bailed.

(146,288 posts)Not all, however. The choice to prosecute powerful people can be problematic in many ways.
In order for someone like Trump to go to prison, someone will have to make a very difficult choice to prosecute him.
We shall see what happens, I suppose, at least in state courts. Trump will have a pardon to protect him in federal courts, I believe.

Trump has been peeved at Barr ever since Trumps infamous, banana-republic infused arrest everyone tweets a month before the election were greeted with a crickets soundtrack from the DOJ.
Trump being cornered now is not a good thing for the nation. Especially if one thinks his mental health is even more unstable now.

(146,288 posts)I doubt he will do anything extraordinarily extreme, though. I don't think there is any support for such things among those who would have to carry them out. That's why Bill Barr has made himself scarce, I'm sure.

(1,988 posts)You can count on it. Over the next two weeks, he will try to stir some crazies into committing an act of violence against the Electoral College. He has already started commenting about "IF" they elect Biden that it would be a "BIG MISTAKE". If GOP Senators don't sit him down, he WILL burn the house down. He knows there is a sealed indictment for the campaign finance charges in SDNY. That is why he is now attacking DOJ/FBI for "rigging" the election.

(146,288 posts)They don't actually meet anywhere as an entire group. It all happens in the states. He can't really do anything about that, and the courts are not going to uphold any of his wild-assed strategies that involve state legislatures. So, there's really nothing his crazies can do, really.
The die is cast against him at this point. His attempts in court have all been slammed down, some of them by his own appointed judges. It is over.

(1,587 posts)Mussolini does after Jan 20 is that he will be looking for the easiest way of making money that will require the least amount of work. He desperately wants to replace his lavish tax payer funded lifestyle, and will be guided by his mob mentality of the law. One obvious option is the selling of state secrets while using it to blackmail vulnerable leaders. Any media business he may control will be like another losing roll of the dice in one of his bankrupt casinos. Whatever he chooses his future will be grim, simply because of the person he is, and has become.
MineralMan
(146,288 posts)Once he is out of power, he will be out of luck. As for state secrets, he doesn't really have any of those. He has never paid any attention to them, and has no information to sell.
As for money, the funniest thing so far is that he spent $3 million to learn that Biden got even more votes from the WI recount.

(53,774 posts)on Putin and Kim Jong Un, I doubt either of those countries want such a headache. And trump, used to a lavish lifestyle certainly doesn't want the spartan existence of a North Korean, or a life under Putin's thumb, a la Comrade Snowden.
Maybe Turkey under Erdogan? It's a developed society and he has helped Erdogan in Syria with the Kurds. Nah, one bully dictator per country is the normal allowance...but wait, in trump's case he's only a dictator-wannabe, so it might work.
Or Bibi might take him since he's been kissing up to trump all along (no one ever said Bibi doesn't know who butters his bread)? Nah, there must be an extradition treaty in effect and Bibi has already started hedging his bets and turning his lonely eyes to Biden.
I say none of the above. He's desperate but cornered here and will probably sequester himself in Mar-a-logo until the creditors come for it or New York authorities come for him.

I also worry about the 70+ million of Americans that continue to support the RepubliCON party despite everything they have witnessed.
