How does a country function when half its people have lost their minds?

How does a country function when half its people have lost their minds?
By Jeffrey C. Billman

(Detroit Metro Times) “As far as the civil war goes,” Jonathan Strickland, the mayor of the 1,400-person town of Sundown, Texas, told Reuters recently, “I don’t think it’s off the table.”

Strickland, an oilfield production engineer, joined a militia-type outfit called the South Plains Patriots. As another member explained, “If President Trump comes out and says: ‘Guys, I have irrefutable proof of fraud, the courts won’t listen, and I’m now calling on Americans to take up arms,’ we would go.”

They, like two-thirds of Republicans, say they’re certain that Donald Trump won re-election but had his victory stolen through a vast conspiracy of ballot-stuffing election officials and vote-switching vote-counting machines hacked by foreign powers. (It’s not clear how many of them actually mean it.)

Trump is still fanning the flames.

....(snip)....

Our democracy withstood Trump’s attacks, barely. But that’s hardly cause for celebration. This year was less an aberration than the culmination of the cynical, total-war politics Republicans have employed since the Gingrich era, one that brooks no compromise and prospers by tearing down political systems. Fortified by a feedback loop of propaganda — first talk radio and Fox News, then the clickbait sites Facebook delivered to Boomers’ feeds, now the Pravda-esque OANN and Newsmax — the GOP became a breeding ground for conspiracy theories. ..................(more)

How do you look at a group of people and go "yeah I'll own you and force you to do my work for me"

That's insane.

How do you go - "I'm having trouble defeating your army, think I'll nuke a city's worth of innocent people alive"

That's insane.

How do you you say "He tried to kill my daddy" (Talkin about you georgie) And just start dropping huge bombs on some city full of innocents?

That's insane

What are they going to do try and take over Chicago, good luck with that. There may be a handful of them that
sets off a bomb or something but they can hardly take over the country. The only way and closest they have come was on
November3.They will be back in 2024 and may win then but they aren't going to start any civil war.

5. I think that Biden will be able to slow down the destruction of our country,

but will not be able to stop it. If we do not win a majority in the Senate now or in 2022, our country is lost. My personal belief is if the majority of people have 10 choices and 9 are for helping others and 1 is for helping oneself at the cost to others, they will pick helping themselves.
