1. I've been told it's better to give money than food, correct TEB?

Someone told me that way the food bank buyers can stretch the dollars themselves.

It's getting horrible here, with no stimulus checks helping out the unemployed and businesses being forced to shut down people are utterly fucked

5. Our food bank would rather have money than items because of covid.

Also that way they can purchase high demand items.

We offer “school boxes” for kids which feature 1 weeks worth of breakfasts and lunches that are child friendly to make. Those can be gotten every week. We have drive thru hot meals every Mon and Wed donated by local businesses. People can now go to the pantry twice a month (instead of once) and it’s all curbside.

My community has stepped up to the plate very well!

Our school district still is offering breakfast and lunches to be picked up daily for children as it’s closed due to Covid.

8. The districts around us do it that way.

We found it was easier on families to do the “weeks worth” than to venture out each day. And now that the weather is getting colder I think we made the right decision.

Thank you for your help TEB!

Another $100 will come in December. People need food to last a few weeks.

This year I have told the kids they will not receive their usual check as I will be donating the money to the local food bank. They all think it is a good idea and they all plan to donate as well.

Very emotional thing to see.

Ever since we moved from the suburbs to the downtown some years ago, Christmas has not been the same.
How could we celebrate giving presents as we used to when there are people not far from our door hungry, sick and homeless? They were always 'there' but when you are confronted with it and see them every day, it hits harder. Some days I come home with tears in my eyes because the suffering is overwhelming and I cannot stop it - can't even put a dent into it.

I don't want to depress anyone. But we haven't seen the worst of what Trump has done yet. When the governments stop printing money, we're in for a severe economic reality check in the wake of devastation from Covid - at a magnitude of death and illness mankind has never seen. So take care of what money and assets you have, stay clear of this virus if you can and hang on to each other. Rougher times in the near term are ahead. It's going to take Joe a while to get this under control.
