Hundreds attend bus tour event supporting President Trump

A few hundred people gathered in south Des Moines Sunday to express their support for outgoing President Donald Trump as part of a national bus tour that started in Florida last month.

"We decided to do a bus tour for all the people that could not go and drop everything in their lives and to make sure that they are felt recognized and that their voice is still being heard," Kylie Jane Kremer, executive director of the pro-Trump Women for America First, told the Des Moines Register. The tour was expected to stop in Minnesota on Sunday night.

Democrat Joe Biden beat Trump, a Republican, in November's election, according to the Associated Press and other media calculations of state results. Biden will secure 306 Electoral College votes to Trump's 232 projected Electoral College votes.

On Sunday in Des Moines speakers claimed Trump won the election. At times, the crowd chanted, “Stop the steal." At other points, the crowd chanted, "Four more years."

Prominent Republican donor and Trump adviser Mike Lindell spoke at the Des Moines event. Lindell, who founded Minnesota-based MyPillow, claimed Democrats "stole 365,000 votes" in Minnesota.

Biden won Minnesota by 7 percentage points, according to certified results. Last week, the Minnesota Supreme Court rejected a Republican challenge to the results.

The bus tour will finish in Washington two days before Biden's victory is certified by the Electoral College on Dec. 14.

Results from the Electoral College's vote will be received, and typically approved, by Congress on Jan. 6, according to the AP. Kremer said it was important for the bus tour to finish in Washington just before the Electoral College meets.

"We decided we needed to go to (Washington) D.C. not just to show up and amass support," Kremer said, "but also to go and show the president that we're out there fighting for him and that we support him."
