Rashida Jones will now head up MSNBC. Does this mean we can get rid of Chuck Todd now?

(16,387 posts)The last two cycles hes openly cheered for someone who did not get the nomination. The one that I really want to see go is Melber. Hes TERRIBLE.

(19,956 posts)agree about Melber, after a bright start he has been a disappointment - too much of a lightweight.

(4,673 posts)he got his show. Watched him a lot but gradually stopped. He has been disappointing but I'd be fine if he returned to subbing.

He really blew it giving TR a platform without any Fact Checking.. and when people Pushed back he made some stupid gaslighting comment like he's smarter than anyone. No.

(1,102 posts)He has to atone for the Tara Reade mess promoted by supporters of a certain persuasion.
Chris is a tool and not a journalist. I also detest him rolling his eyes back while thinking - a TV person on camera should never do that.

(31,234 posts)I despise hosts who fanboi on tv. It's like they grew up, and now they have a platform to invite all their weird childhood heroes, and they gush like idiots. It's the reason I can't stand to watch Melber anymore. I'm hoping Rashida will do some much needed updating to the lineup.
edit: This post was meant to be a response to Gothmog. Sorry about that.

(58,785 posts)Here's a little from the NYT's article on Griffin's retirement. And it is very little, nothing about what she believes, but she is obviously a competent business executive. I have trouble believing any new direction will find liberal Chris Hayes too conservative.
Ms. Jones ... joined NBCUniversal seven years ago. ... a steady ascent: Beginning last year, she was the executive producer for a pair of primary debates that set ratings records for a Democratic presidential contest. This past April, she was handed oversight of MSNBCs daytime news coverage, and within three months, she had added weekend news programming to her portfolio. By the fall, Ms. Jones produced two town-hall events with the 2020 presidential candidates and helped supervise preparation for Kristen Welker, the NBC correspondent who moderated the second presidential debate to glowing reviews. ...
Ms. Jones will assume control of a news network that reached ratings highs as a safe space for liberals enraged by President Trump, and is now pondering how to retain those viewers after the chief villain of its prime-time programming leaves office.
She also inherits a slate of network stars, some of whom are deeply loyal to Mr. Griffin, 64, the executive who joined MSNBC at its founding in 1996 and put in place much of the channels current lineup. Besides handing Ms. Maddow her prime-time break in 2008, ... Mr. Griffin recalled his more than three decades at NBC, including memories of working with Jane Pauley and Bryant Gumbel at the Today show ...
A vegetarian and spinning class enthusiast, Mr. Griffin distinguished himself as a boisterous executive with a knack for managing the large egos of television news. Mr. Griffin wrote on Monday that, after Election Day, he told NBC leadership that the time felt right to hang up my cleats.

** Andy Lack is the one who "fixed" ailing Meet the Press by installing Chuck Todd, giving him a daily version to sic him on vulnerable daytime viewers during the 2015-16 election season.
