(12,676 posts)Though I wouldn't have expected them to go that far. I always thought of them as more likely to cosplay as wannabe bikers when out in public.

(34,137 posts)True story - Way back when I was a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism one of my friends decided to do what his Pictish ancestor would do and dye himself blue. He got all the authentic ingredients, cooked up the dye and took a bath in it.
He was a big success at the event he was going to, with his Pitish kilt and blue skin. Problem was, when the event was over and he tried to wash it off, he found out that the dye is very permanent. He was blue for a very long time. I wish I had pictures, but it was the stuff of legend in our group for years.

(34,137 posts)I took a lot of pictures at some of the events, but many were really into their SCA personas and frowned on cameras during the battles and feasts.
ETA - I was disappointed in Breaveheart since it was obvious that they used paint rather than woad. I guess Mel Gibson didn't want to be blue for months afterwards.

These are the drones/hangers on of the movement.
The really vicious members won't be making silly videos but will encourage them
in order to downplay the dangerous members.

@Verillas
Disgusted to see members of a fascist terrorist organization wearing our products. We're a LGBTQIA+ owned, operated, designed and lived. We're against everything they stand for. I see $750 of our gear in that picture, and I just gave $1000 to the NAACP to redirect hate to love.
