In a typical midnight tweet, Donald Trump threatened Georgia Republicans with a loss in the January 5 runoff — unless they meet his impossible demands:

If you don’t speak MAGA conspiracy theory English, let me translate the demands:

“call a Special Session” refers to the idea that Gov. Kemp can call in a special session of the legislature to elect a slate of Trump electors for the Electoral College.

”open up signature verification” is the idea of comparing signatures on mailed-in ballots with the signatures in the voter registration file to prove that these mailed-in ballots are faked.

Unfortunately, none of these things is possible. Georgia state law makes it absolutely clear that electors are chosen in the general election, the legislature just cannot elect other people. Ballots are, of course, not signed by the voter — that’s the entire idea of a secret ballot.

1. Trump's ongoing obsession with opening things up

Remember how he keeps wanting to open up the economy even while a quarter million Americans are dead? He also wanted to open up the libel laws so that anyone insufficiently obeisant to his obeseness would have to pay him damages. Now he wants to open up signature verification, whatever the fuck that means in his "brain."

This is, to be perfectly blunt, fucking insane. The elections board verifies the signatures before they open the envelopes, then destroys the envelopes after the ballots are out of them. This is to preserve the secrecy of the voter.

The only thing I can think of as to why Trump is so hot on signature verification is he wants to send the Proud Boys to kill anyone who voted against him.
