Counting Electoral Votes: An Overview of Procedures at the Joint Session, Including Objections by Members of Congress1) Meet in a joint session.
2) Count the electoral votes in alpha order of states.
3) Any objections must be in writing and signed by at least one Senator and one Representative stating the reason.
4) Objections require the joint session to suspend and each chamber debates and vote on it.
5) Grounds for objections are limited to such vote was not regularly given by an elector, and/or that the elector was not lawfully certified according to state statutory procedures.
6) Both houses must vote separately to agree to the objection by simple majority. Otherwise, the objection fails and the vote or votes are counted.

(3,023 posts)2. I could see some Repubs making a show of this....
...but Point 6 is the guarantee clause. Assuming the House Dems vote as a block (and I'd bet some of the few sane Repubs join them), there is no way any objection will stand. Another test to see who and how many crazy Repubs there are.
Thanks for sharing this...I wondered how this could go down and get convoluted into something grotesque by the Trumpian crowd.
