(15,090 posts)Its not just lungs. Because the virus produces blood clots, it can cause dysfunction anywhere in the bodycirculation to the extremities, for instance. I have a friend who just lost part of a foot to a mild case of covid when the disease made already impaired circulation worse.

(8,445 posts)These are the things we don't hear much about.
We hear about the positivity rate and the death rate. We don't hear about those whose lives are forever changed.
I read about this yesterday, and then the story sort of faded into the abyss of news stories. We'll continue to hear the loudmouths who say, "Yeah, I got Covid, and I'm fine. No big deal." Everyone really needs to know that just because someone "survives" Covid, it doesn't mean they're ok. Even if this guy survives (he has only survived *so far*), he's going to spend the rest of his life suffering physically and financially.
I wish the media would make a bigger deal out of what life is like after one spends extended time in the ICU. Post ICU Syndrome isn't talked about much.
