Really? What an odd statement to make... out of the blue like that.

Do we have reason to believe otherwise? Has it been previously suggested that she would do such a thing? Is that statement meant to separate and differentiate herself from someone else who *would* make vaccination demands, but not get one for themselves? If yes, who? If no, then why phrase it that way?

All I'm trying to say is that it's a very odd tweet, and it wasn't written in a very clear way.

Yes, there are a lot of reasons, having paid attention for months now I am well aware of it and regardless of the reasons, she stated out loud on Monday that she didn't know she could vote for me even though I am on a deadline that is almost over. I have a couple days.

Sanders did it the previous Monday when Pelosi had the momentum coming in that Monday and BOOOM... Sanders has to put out to the nation he would NOT vote for the bill. Then Sanders started working on a stand alone bill for 1200, not a mention or consideration toward UI, or the desperation being on a timeline.

All the other noise stops. Sanders and AOC felt the need to put out the statement and that was talk directly at me.

Sanders is well aware of the "desperation of being on a timeline."

“This is not a radical idea. This is an idea that is supported by President Donald Trump. It is an idea that is supported by President-elect Joe Biden,” Sanders said. “The American people cannot wait any longer; they need economic relief right now. ... They need help and they need it now.”

....

Hawley and Sanders, political opposites, emerged as Congress's latest odd couple to push for Congress to pass a second round of $1,200 stimulus checks either as a stand-alone bill or part of a sweeping coronavirus and government funding deal that is still being agreed to by leadership.

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) aligned himself with Sanders on Friday.

“The quickest way to get money into the pockets of the American people is too send some of their tax dollars right back where they came from. So let's step up the plate. ... I support Senator Sanders's request fully and hope the Senate will consent,” Schumer said.

Harris and AOC are not similarly situated - so suggesting that they are being treated differently because of Harris isn't AOC is ridiculous. Harris would be treated differently because she is the vice-president elect, and the vice president elect should be at the front of the line for national security reasons. I can't imagine anyone disagrees with that. Many of us would disagree that members of Congress should be at the front of the line merely because of their status as a member of Congress.

And Kamala is 56 years old.

My partner is a senior pharmacy manager for a major hospital chain. I've spent months listening to their meetings and how they prioritize the vaccines. A lot of human hours went into all the considerations about when and what order. It's been debated to death by skilled professionals. Who's most important, who's not. It's one of those calculations they make. Unfortunate, but when you have a limited supply, you start prioritizing.

My opinion. If one of the youngers had stood up and said, there are people in need, I am not one. Are you under the impression that the post you were replying to has anything to do with the number of constituents in AOC's district? It doesn't.

AOC's district consists of, as you said, around 700,000 people. She has 10.9 million twitter followers (a very large reach indeed). She did a great service by broadcasting her message of vaccine safety to those followers.

I can't help but notice you posted an OP sharing a tweet from Speaker Pelosi in which she publicized her own experience taking the vaccine. Thank you for doing that! I'm proud of Speaker Pelosi for doing so and leading by example. Her district also has 700,000 people--it's just slightly smaller than AOC's district, but she broadcast the message to her 6.1 million followers because she, like AOC, has a very loud megaphone to broadcast her message.

Incidentally, about 78% of the contributions to Speaker Pelosi's campaign came from outside the 12th District of California and 66% from outside of the state of California.

This isn't an attack on Pelosi, I think she's the most effective speaker we've had in many years. I'm merely using your own line of reasoning to show that wildly popular politicians, like Speaker Pelosi and AOC, tend to garner significant support from outside their districts.

Promoting vaccine safety in the face of all the misinformation is critically important. This isn't a progressive vs moderate issue or an up-and-comer vs seasoned leader issue. This is a public health issue. There is plenty of room to heap praise upon all of our Democratic superstars.

She hasn't spoken out on what our new administration is planning yet that I can see, but must be every bit as thrilled and encouraged as all our major environmental/climate groups are. "Visionary leaders" and "inauguration day can't come soon enough -- we're ready to get to work." Perhaps you have something to add on that?

Here's are some LCV statements on what they call the

BIDEN-HARRIS ADMINISTRATION’S DREAM TEAM OF CLIMATE CHAMPIONS

“As we often say at LCV, elections have consequences, and President-elect Joe Biden’s dream team of climate champions makes that abundantly clear. These visionary leaders will ensure that the Biden-Harris administration fights hard every single day for the health of all communities and centers bold climate action in racial justice and equity. We know personnel is policy, and we are thrilled to work with this historic administration that better reflects our diversity to address the interwoven climate, racial, economic, and health crises with a whole-of-government approach and build a safer and healthier planet for our future generations. Inauguration Day can’t come soon enough — we’re ready to get to work.”

“Joe Biden has nominated a team of climate change-makers who will deliver on his promise to tackle the climate crisis. By nominating these leaders, President Elect Biden and Vice President Elect Harris are signaling to the world that the United States is serious about expanding clean energy and reducing the carbon pollution that drives climate change and serious about leading by example. Clean energy, climate change, justice and protecting our health are central to the Biden plan to rebuild our economy.”

In case you missed it, here are LCV’s statements on recent appointments:

Interior: Deb Haaland
EPA: Michael Regan
CEQ: Brenda Mallory
White House Climate Policy Roles: Gina McCarthy and Ali Zaidi
Energy: Jennifer Granholm
Transportation: Pete Buttigieg
Special Envoy for Climate: John Kerry
Economic Team: Janet Yellen and Brian Deese

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) received coronavirus vaccinations Friday, administered by the Capitol’s leading doctor as part of a plan he said is designed to preserve continuity of government.

Pelosi, 80, received a shot of the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine from Brian Monahan, the attending physician of the U.S. Congress and the Supreme Court.

Pelosi’s vaccination, viewed by the media, came just hours after Vice President Pence received a dose at the White House complex on live television in a bid to build public confidence in the safety of coronavirus vaccines.

those around you. But there is every reason to think it will. The antibodies created via the vaccine kill the virus. You may still have a low amount. A low amount also means you are less/ not contagious. They are just being super conservative in what they say because it hasn't been scientifically proven yet.

I'm old but healthy. I would prefer the people most likely to be hospitalized/ have severe covid be the first; our hospitals are crowded and some are overwhelmed. But I have no problem with AOC being vacced before me because 1) she is more important than me, and 2) we're talking about only 538 people. There are many more than that ahead of me and it's a drop in the bucket.

the undecided-like the info that older adults had less side effects .
That’s a group with high covid risk that shouldn’t blow off vaccination and might due to a lot of “alternative fact lovers” in that age group .
The downers here will say Oh that is dumb who is that old on insta? Maybe one of thier family or a coworker can show them the info to help them decide to vaccinate if at risk .
So many must be participating if it’s going to help stop the spread and empty the ICUs
