(4,723 posts)It looks like "the evening star." I do live in the city, though. Maybe out in the country it is more impressive. My partner thought the coolest thing was that you can see the two planets right by each other in the sky.

(53,072 posts)It's just two planets, one in front of the other. It's not going to look spectacular, but it is extremely rare.

Sorry, it took me so long to get back here. I was stowing my gear and fielding phone calls from others who had gone out to see the event. Everyone who I talked with was quite pleased.

(22,236 posts)where the convergence of the planets Jupiter and Saturn are supposed to look as if they are one big bright star? Jupiter is usually one of the brightest lights in the sky, so I'm wondering how much brighter it looks tonight with this convergence effect. It's too cloudy here where I am to see it.

(53,072 posts)from what the educator at the Lowell telescope was saying. She was saying that they aren't going to line up so you can only see one, but rather they are closer than normal.
