OK, everyone here is super savvy when it comes to politics. We breathe it...it's part of our life blood. And I'll bet most of us here have that friend who doesn't really follow politics like we do, but knows what's going on, and knows the last four years have been anything but normal. Mine is Susie, and she pretty much turns to me to get the down low stuff that they don't talk about on the news.
So we were talking the other day, and I was ranting about how Trump has turned what is usually an uneventful, smooth-running process of transfer of power into his usual clusterfuck of lies and distortions. She said "Are you kidding...this has been the best ever!" After laughing at the look of shock on my face, she continued. She pointed out that, yeah he's trying to fuck us one last time, BUT we've gotten to watch that asshole lose over and over and over in court, and melt down each time, while his lawyers make asses of themselves on TV. His minions, while becoming even more lunatic now , will end up in jail (or dead) if they continue this shit after Joe is in. Melania will probably take Barron and walk. His Presidential protection against legal charges will be gone. The military is obviously done with him, so if he, in that fevered mind of his, thinks they'll back him in this coup he is wrong, again. Watching him being escorted out of the WH under military guard will be awesome. She reminded me to enjoy what was happening to him today, and look forward to what will happen to him.
He's done. Yeah, he thinks he can still do this, but we all know better. If those idiots in the House think that Nancy will sit back passively if they try any shit, again...wrong. We survived 4 years under a maniac. The next 27 days will be a walk in the park. At this point, he's that 3 year old throwing a temper tantrum in the mall, and everyone is doing their best to ignore him.
A couple of years ago, I saw this tweet: "Oh Donnie, Donnie, Donnie. You could have spent the rest of your life playing golf, laundering money for the Russians, and fucking porn stars, but no! You had to run for President because you got pissed off at the black guy". He's going to be under a legal microscope for the rest of his useless life. I hope he'll be as miserable as he's made us.
Merry Christmas, everyone!

I like that version much better.

(6,265 posts)this will be all arising from their "fevered minds"...but yep I have the hope of a "walk in the park". and especially(I know I'm dreaming)his orange-clad jumpsuit "perp walk". Hopefully in chains at the Hague? Needless deaths caused by his administration's unconcern and disgraceful negligence in deaths of Americans by the original pandemic virus. Direct culpability
May the holidays be kind to you and yours. Peace.

(1,337 posts)It is a joy watching him lose over and over and over again! Every day he gets closer to not waking up in the WH, and I revel in that fact every day--losing his power and his planes is going to ruin him. We have a pretty good grasp on who he is at this point and we know how this is eating away at him. So there is definitely an upside to this!

(11,564 posts)we have all known this for a while now. Nice to see it all nestled together with a nice bow on it. Super-appropriate for this time of year.

(21,573 posts)tantrum over the election coming up on January 6. Instead of getting grouchy, angry, and frustrated over what we know is going to happen, we need to just relax and watch them make fools of themselves again.
They can't change the outcome. The only reason for the coming drama is to keep their base riled up and hating Dems for the next 4 years, especially the next 2 years before the midterms. They will pile on Biden and Harris like they did on Obama.
So instead of wasting energy over January 6, we can save it up for countering the BS to come after January 20. We know that's coming, too. Instead of getting outraged, we can just accept that that's the way they operate. We've seen this show before, so we can deal with it.
I'm betting that, besides the idiocy about Biden being a communist, R's will focus their hatred on Harris for two reasons. First, racism is their stock in trade. Second, she is a smart, strong, competent person who can run for president in the future, so she's a threat to them.
We'll have Joe's and Kamala's backs for the next 4 years and beyond. But it looks to me like the domestic programs and policies that Biden and Harris are planning will undercut some of the hype against them as working and middle classes benefit under their administration.

(21,109 posts)This is not how our system is supposed to work and is just making it that much more difficult for the REAL Democratic party to attempt to fix the last 4 years.

(64 posts)But I fear Trump is smarter than we give him credit for being.
He had to know he would lose all those lawsuits. So there must be another purpose for all that court action, a purpose that does not require winning in court. I think he's been trying to stir his base up not to accept the election results. Some of them see themselves as freedom fighters. Who knows what they'll do on 1/20.

(7,434 posts)most of it going right into Trumpy's pocket, and NOT in any "election fraud" efforts to give Trumpy-Boy a second term. That's motivation enough. By that measure, Trump will continue to complain, then beg for more millions.

(2,009 posts)You just know he's got Stephen Miller, Jared and company lining up outside the Oval (when he's in it; Mar-a-Cucaracha when he isn't) with some other disgusting ideas of how he can "own the libs" in his remaining 2.5 Scaramuccis.

(14,586 posts)the millions of Americans who are suffering prodigiously, who do not have enough food, cannot afford regular household expenses, who don't have jobs, the skills or access to the virtual technology to find a new one, whose unemployment is nearly up, who owe money in back rent.
Feeding America, which owns 178 food banks, reports traffic is up 59% on average this year, with about 40% of recipients 'first timers.'
They say that one in six Americans will go hungry at some point every month, and for children that number is one in four.
So, while we who enjoy the absolute luck of still having jobs, food, transportation and health care may look upon the Trump administration as a comedy, it is a terrible comedy underlain with tragedy for millions. Not to mention the death, or the horrible hell our health care people are experiencing right now in overloaded, overcrowded hospitals.
The small business owners who have put their life savings, their blood, and their hopes into businesses that are now in danger of failing.
The small landlords who depend on rent income for living expenses are doing their best to carry their tenants, but have no money coming in.
The unemployed who fear every day the bottom will fall out.
I'm not trying to be the skunk in the garden here, but policy affects us, and bad policies affect us badly. Trump's policies have been a comedy of error, I suppose, but they have had tragic consequences that will leave deep wounds in this republic and its people.

(2,697 posts)You can laugh, if you want, after he's been put down -- or, in Trump's case, out.
And I love that tweet because it is so spot on. It would be a great epitaph, if he has a marked grave with a headstone, preferably one with a gravesite fertilized by the pee of the citizens he hurt.

(7,813 posts)Remember how Sarah Huckabee used to smirk while saying that the orange monster hit back ten times harder? It didn't matter how innocuous, mild, or ignorable the slight may have been, the monster overreacted beyond any level of sanity.
Last Christmas had to chump's shittiest one ever - he was fresh off of being impeached and it hurt him. It humiliated and angered him.
He is taking revenge on the whole country now. It won't stop with pocket vetoes and pardoning every white supremacist in history.
Hang on - the ride ain't over yet.
