(21,756 posts)those Trump flags with his ugly face plastered over the stars and stripes. May that one never fly again, either, desecrating Old Glory.

(14,085 posts)til the flags are in appropriately metaphorical tatters.

(21,756 posts)I've been pretty much spared that ugly scenery in my area, and have seen them mostly in videos of trumpist demonstrations.

(15,565 posts)This is an amazing story so far. Wonder if the homeowner has found a history of the house also. Sometimes the prior owners have done some of the research.

(4,443 posts)The house may have been used as an inn or meeting place for the soldiers. I know they borrowed peoples houses in strategic areas for that purpose during earlier wars. I lived in a large, older house in Medford, NJ that was rumored to be just that. It was across the road from a mill on a stream. I went to see it again a couple of years ago, but it had burned down. Christopher Mill is still there, though. So much history that is has not yet been discovered. Very interesting and exciting. I hope the families are found and we learn the history of that flag. My mom and dad were both WWII veterans.

(15,565 posts)That's an amazing story in itself. Did they meet in service?

(14,120 posts)That must have some stories behind it. It should be in the museum.

(16,866 posts)but I guess that belongs in a museum. The Smithsonian should buy that if she needs the money and isn't able to just donate the stuff.

(9,660 posts)Signatures all over it. I've tried to do some research to see if I could find any of them. No luck. I do want to donate it to the World War II Museum in New Orleans.

(9,660 posts)He somehow has a tie to this story. My dad was a medical technician!
I can't for the life of me remember the story on the flag. I do know that my dad went into Japan after the surrender. He spent most of the war in Papua New Guinea and islands around there.

Same theater of operation, same point in history.
If his name is on it, LMK, with many thanks.

(9,660 posts)I do know that everyone who signed it also signed their home town and state. I will definitely look for it in the next day or so, and I will let you know what I find.
I imagine it's a bit wrinkled, but I will take a picture of it and post it.

(16,206 posts)if you do take it out someday that's fine with me, if you don't well let's say, that's fine with me too.
May you have a good holiday season, try to keep it all year long.
Peace to you and yours from me and mine.

(9,660 posts)And now I'm curious, so I am going to get the flag out. It will give me something to do. I did go peek in the closet, and it will take a bit of work. The flag is in one of two places.
I've been meaning to do this for some time because I really do want to donate the flag. There is no one in the family to pass it down to. I'm it. So this is good motivation.
Happy holidays to you and your family. And yes, may peace surround us all.

Underneath the flag was a little treasure of odds and ends.
All of this seems to belong to a Sergeant Dean McKittrick of Catasauqua, PA. Did he live in this house? Or did the previous owners know this person? Its a very cool mystery!

(320 posts)Problem is that it already does. There are minor differences. It now says MAGA and is red on white. Different symbols on flag, same goal.
