I NEVER want to hear a rightie complain about the t-ball team getting "participation trophies" again

You know the shtick, "the problem with society is everyone gets participation trophies" yadda yadda yadda, blah blah blah.

Well, find me the after-school t-ball team that tried to litigate away their losses, screamed at everyone and not just the opposing team, but the referees, how the points were awarded was an unfair system, accused the equipment of being faulty, get their t-ball bats and balls and threaten "civil war", etc.

It's embarrassing.

It was always, obviously bullshit but now that they've basically admitted it out loud we need to stop letting them waste everyone's time with it.

12. And their "return to the Constitution" bullshit.

I'll bet not a one of these whiners have even read the entire text of the Constitution, and that includes many of the Repug congressmen. They only know there's something that's called the Second Amendment. Hell, they haven't even read the entire Second Amendment . They quote only the part they claim gives them the right to own guns, lots of guns. They always skip over the "well-regulated militia" part.

And God forbid they've studied how the Constitution came to be -- for example, the role slavery played in creating the Electoral College -- or how the SCOTUS has interpreted the Constitution over the years to allow us to have a functioning nation.

They can't tell you how Chief Justice John Marshall used the Supreme Court case Marbury v. Madison (1803) to establish the principle of judicial review—the power of the federal courts to declare legislative and executive acts unconstitutional.

They only know about the Second Amendment. Seriously, the Second Amendment. Everything else they twist and turn to fit their purposes, and call it "originalism." Scalia was a master of this bullshit.

These rules and norms they advocate are for others.

Do Republicans these days have the capacity to be embarrassed? It looks like most of them don't. My parents have always been conservative Republicans, but they didn't say shit about politics at Christmas this year. That was a gift in itself, but anyway, do dads still teach their sons about sportsmanship and how to lose graciously? What kind of lesson is this to the kids? It's downright shameful.

to the arguments about confederate soldier statues, etc.

I would say, "I guess that you guys do believe in participation trophies after all!"

I had an older guy complain about them and said it made my generation/generation after me soft.

I said they were given because your generation was soft and couldn't have honest discussions about winning and losing with your kids.

Most of those originated is suburbs from adults that probably voted for Raygun.
