Trump shows once again why he should not be President

https://www.politico.com/newsletters/playbook/2020/12/28/trump-got-nothing-491250

THAT’S IT? President DONALD TRUMP made all this noise about the Covid relief and government funding bill only to sign it and get nothing in return?

TRUMP got taken to the cleaners.

WHAT A BIZARRE, embarrassing episode for the president. He opposed a bill his administration negotiated. He had no discernible strategy and no hand to play — and it showed. He folded, and got nothing besides a few days of attention and chaos. People waiting for aid got a few days of frightening uncertainty.

ZIP. ZERO. ZILCH. If he was going to give up this easy, he should’ve just kept quiet and signed the bill. It would’ve been less embarrassing.

Donnie, just go home now and take your silly little signing statement with you.

This proves once again that Trump stinks as a dealmaker when he is unable to make deals through extortion.

First he gave his base another reason to love him; he wants them to have $2000 checks but the deep state won’t let him. Second, he got everyone talking about the potential for veto and oh, woe is us, instead of about the bill itself— too little for the little guy, lots of juicy Easter eggs for the wealthy and corporations hidden in the 900 pages—which hhis administration negotiated for. Third, he got to frame his signing as a win. Now maybe most people see through that, but not his supporters—and they’re precisely the folks inclined to blow everything up.

Finally, what’s the story top line today? He signed. Again, it’s not about how bad the bill is.

Lock him up.

Trump is continuing to merely follow Putin's orders to torpedo anything and everything in the United States as long as he is in power.
McConnell, Graham and many other Senate Republicans as well as Republican Politicians across the country are following along with Trump/Putins wishes......

and for a malignant narcissist, that is a huge payoff.

All attention was focused on him for days. He wasn't dithering and if he had his druthers, the money would all go into the stock market to make him look better. It was an attention grab and it worked.
