Saw him Tuesday night at gas station getting fuel for my snowblower.
I said "Hey Rich. I thought covid would be gone after the election."

Well, I stand up for the Coasties. They be tough. Their Deep Sea Rescue Teams start at bad ass, then get real.

(6,849 posts)The number you are defining is the number of American soldiers killed in battle. Not including those dead from other causes.
The US covid-19 death rate is pretty unthinkable though. Just as your allusion implies.
WW2 American killed and wounded soldiers were about 8% of the total 1942 US population.
There was misery enough for all. My mother always remarked that she didn't know that there was such a thing as no world at war until she was 12. I always replied that there is still no time when war is not someplace in the world. Then she'd say, "yes, but not our war."
Funny, what one remembers.

I wonder what a shameful legacy these idiots have made themselves a part of, if it's ever occurred to any of them that their picture in the historical records of why such an ecosystem calamity happened will have some future generations saying "Why, grandma, why?"

(2,065 posts)Either:
A) We are successful in controlling or eradicating the Coronavirus with our public health efforts;
OR
B) The Coronavirus will eventually run out of living human hosts to infect.
Maybe I'm being too dismal and pessimistic here. There is a third option:
C) Millions will die, and the rest of us who remain will develop herd immunity, or be asymptomatic carriers.
