The fact that Republicans are now suddenly acting shocked by the President's actions is laughable. Most Republicans were complicit toward the very end with a majority of the House Republicans continuing to support the President's efforts to seize power. We can't forget that this was a deliberate effort by Trump supported by most House Republicans and some Senate Republicans to seize power.

Those are the three men replacing top civilian officials at the Pentagon this week, a swift set of personnel changes that has critics fearing the presidents plans for the military and has White House allies cheering that hes finally routed the deep state.
After President Donald Trump fired Mark Esper as defense secretary on November 9, it seemed likely that further changes to the Pentagons senior civilian leadership would follow. After all, Trump had long empowered John McEntee, his 30-year-old former personal aide whom he tapped to run the Presidential Personnel Office in February, to identify any federal officials suspected of working against the White Houses agenda and replace them with administration loyalists.
The Defense Department was always a top target due to its many clashes with the president and other top White House officials like National Security Adviser Robert OBrien, administration sources told me, namely over troop withdrawals and the use of active-duty military to quell anti-racism and anti-police-brutality protests.

(7,285 posts)these particular installments were done 2 months ago. Since this reported at the time I have wondered if they could succeed in accomplishing their pre planned coup.
If events on Wednesday helped or hurt this intended goal remains to be see until Biden's administration is established.
My ongoing concern will be the traitors that remain in place at the highest levels of the Pentagon, the Joint Chiefs, all of the National security agencies and ancillary posts.
That worries me greatly.

(17,390 posts)I think Congressional Republicans were hoping to go through the motions of trying to oppose Biden taking office based on the election fraud conspiracies. Republicans like Cruz and Hawley were trying to outdo each other in an attempt to play the hero and ingratiate themselves to the GOP's conspiracy loving base. However, it got away from them when the protesters tried to take over the Capitol and it was clear that Trump was truly willing to do anything to hold on to power even if it included trying to take them out.
