Apologies if this has been posted before (hard to keep up these days) but this is the first I have seen of this video. I've been looking for other videos or pictures of the guy with the gray backpack that pulled the cop down the steps. I really hope they catch that guy (and his accomplices) but haven't been able to find anything yet that has a clear shot of his face.
And yes. In the video, the insurrectionists are actually chanting...wait for it..."I can't breathe." at the beginning. Un fucking real.
Anyway, at 0:46, he's the guy in the blue and white cap with the red bill that's just to the right and slightly above the guy in the high visibility shirt. Unfortunately, he puts his hand up by his face as he turns toward the camera. Sigh.
At 0:54, he starts thrusting a pole of some sort at the cops, then climbs over the rail and gets in their face. After he drags the cop down the stairs, he goes out of frame and I don't see him reappear after that. (Though maybe he does and I just haven't caught it.)

(86 posts)The sad thing is, it could have easily been avoided. They should have had a LOT more forces there to guard the Capitol and any insurrectionists that tried to get past the barriers they put up should have been maced, cuffed, and carted off. They should never have been able to get anywhere near the Capitol, much less inside it.

(86 posts)Hopefully there is enough footage out there that the FBI will be able to find the bastard and all of his accomplices.

(13,526 posts)Is this the man who killed himself?????? And who could blame him, after THAT
Can I even imagine how he felt, getting crushed in that vicious crowd after getting dragged down the stairs? NO
I woke up this morning after 4 hours of sleep and this is all I can think about
Im just sayin - this footage has ruined me emotionally, eh but Im glad Ive seen it, right, because it gives me such a better sense of what that mob did to this man, and plenty of others, that day
Its out of a fkn movie, isnt it

(6,477 posts)1) This guy is from warm weather area. He doesn't have a cold weather jacket, instead wearing a bomber, a puffy vest, and a sweatshirt. He doesn't really know how to dress for the weather, which is why he keeps taking the bomber off. Definitely south, but in a place where it gets cool enough for a fall jacket, or puffy vest + sweatshirt combo.
2) He's definitely with the guy in the Texas Rangers hat, who comes in and retrieves him from the melee. The guy looks older, might even be his father. He'd listen to his Dad to get out of there. Texas Ranger hat is worn and well-used - not a new purchase. I'd guess he's a Texas Rangers fan, and not just wearing the hat for the T or color.
3) #Scallops is familiar with aggression. He does not hesitate. He sees the fight going on, makes his way to the front and engages, no fear. When he engages, he grabs and pulls, a grappler. In another picture of him holding the Women for Trump sign, his hands and knuckles do look a bit dinged up, maybe even with a band-aid on his index finger. Finally, his nose looks like it may have been broken before, and it's not just sharp. His ears are mildly cauliflowered. I'd guess he's an MMA guy, and trains in an MMA gym. The way he grapples the cop down the stairs suggests a grapple style, probably Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu.
4) If I were in charge of this investigation, I'd put an intern or low-level staffer on looking through images from Gracie Barra gyms in Texas, maybe Dallas Fort-Worth area. Needle in a haystack maybe, but there might be something there.

(86 posts)It looks the crew that's looking into this were able to get a couple of pics of Scallops, along with a bunch of the others. They are really doing a good job of combing through videos and grabbing stills. Here's a collage of what they have so far:

(14,856 posts)Only THEY are allowed to be heard, or to judge others, in their warped minds.
They're like the ignorant inquisitors during the Spanish Inquisition.
I've worked under right-wing managers with similar attitudes. They probably kept striving for such positions because of the mostly one-way judgement in the business structure. They get to judge and punish others, and it's not like they were democratically elected by the employees under them. Same for many cops, and lots of positions in our society that seem to attract those types of authoritarians.
