Does Tommy Tuberville need to retake his high school United States government class?
The freshman Alabama senator and former college football coach wondered to CBS 42 in Birmingham this week if President-Elect Joe Bidens inauguration should be pushed back because of COVID-19.
We probably could have had a swearing-in and inauguration later after we got this virus behind us a little bit. Again, were talking about Washington, D.C., Tuberville said.
This virus that Tuberville refers to is, of course, COVID-19. But worldwide pandemic or not, the United States Constitution says that presidents are inaugurated on Jan. 20. Theres no provision in the Constitution to move the swearing in of a president back for whatever reason. Bidens transfer into office cant be moved without an amendment to the Constitution.
The CBS story noted that it wasnt clear if Tuberville was aware of that during the interview.

(5,804 posts)hasn't he seen all the Republicans running around Congress and WH with no masks and all catching Covid while trying desperately to get their Supreme Court Justice who they hoped would overturn election and processing all the last minute executive orders and pardons.
He should have been as vocal about postponing their massive mask deficient rally and march to attack the Capitol..

(13,935 posts)or does he just have potatoes in his ears? God, what a dymshits. Someone needs to hand him a copy of the Constitution and stand there while he reads it OUT LOUD. Every single damn word. He then needs to be quizzed on what it says. If he can't tell them, he can't sit down. To make it easier for him, they could let him discuss the meaning of it between each section.

"Our government wasn't set up for one group to have all three branches of government wasn't set up that way," Tuberville said, adding: "You know, the House, the Senate, and the executive.""
Uh huh, unless all three are run by Republicans, then Tuberville's reaction is
