(64,995 posts)There never was a 2nd dose reserve. PINO & that fool pretending to run OWS made that up.
Pfizer & Moderna just went over 1.1 million doses a day.
Everything is out in distribution. They're shipping as fast as they can make.
The problem is that they're sitting here, there, & everywhere with tracking 4 days behind.
And, there should have been a reserve but the logistics have been bungled.
There was never a reserve, it was never in the OWS plan, and they lied about it existing.

(64,995 posts)The site in Michigan began making it as soon as it was authorized.
The plant near Boston was supposed to start up the week between Christmas & New Year.
They made a public statement to that timeline & if they hadn't hit the go button, I think it would be news.
I think that's why they went from 500,000 doses a day to 1.12 million in a matter of days.
I understand the plant in Belgium is their biggest worldwide, but I don't remember seeing their daily throughput capacity.
If Pfizer is at 1.1+ million, they're not yet half way toward full throughput. (A learning curve of several weeks should not be concerning). Back in October they forecasted 2.5 million doses a day when fully ramped up in the US, not counting authorized toll manufacturers.

(7,510 posts)Kalamazoo is formulation and filling.
Andover's role in the process is to take the plasmid DNA template made in St. Louis and incubate it with mRNA building blocks to make the drug substance, which is purified and shipped to Kalamazoo for mixing, filtration and packaging.

Hopefully this is all running, but initially the mRNA was all coming from Puurs, Belgium. The mRNA manufacturing facilities probably do the lipid encapsulation?

(64,995 posts)I wasn't getting all that specific in my answer.
On the home front, everyone at my BiL's long term care place got vaccinated 10 days ago.
One less thing to worry about!
And, he tested positive already, though modest symptoms.
He should be quite a bit safer for a while.
