5 Reasons to Wear a Mask Even After You're Vaccinated

As an emergency physician, Dr. Eugenia South was in the first group of people to receive a covid vaccine. She received her second dose last week — even before President-elect Joe Biden.

Yet South said she’s in no rush to throw away her face mask.

“I honestly don’t think I’ll ever go without a mask at work again,” said South, faculty director of the Urban Health Lab at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. “I don’t think I’ll ever feel safe doing that.”

And although covid vaccines are highly effective, South plans to continue wearing her mask outside the hospital as well.

Health experts say there are good reasons to follow her example.

The vaccine keeps you from getting sick, but not from becoming infected. I'll wear my mask from now on, too. The Japanese have been masking-up for years.

There are 21 days between the first and second shit if you have the Pfizer vaccine longer with moderna and then another 10 plus days to reach the maximum benefit.

Kept masked up, washed up with soap and water, used hand sanitizer until at times I could taste it, but when you are in a crowded area with mask deniers, no matter how much you try to protect yourself, you can catch Covid.

I posted about how your risk of getting infected is a mathematical function of the efficacy of the vaccine you've received along with your local daily rate of new cases, but most readers didn't get it.

Valley Fever is one:

Valley fever is an infection caused by a fungus that lives in the soil. About 10,000 cases are reported in the United States each year, mostly from Arizona and California. Valley fever can be misdiagnosed because its symptoms are similar to those of other illnesses. Here are some important things to know about Valley fever, also called coccidioidomycosis.

I don't want to give up my mask because in 23 years of teaching, this is the first year I haven't been prescribed antibiotics, gotten the flu, or lost my voice.

In Alberta there has not been a single documented case of influenza this season - a remarkable situation IMO. And, due to all the mask wearing and social distancing measures etc in place for Covid protection.

Personally, I suspect I will be wearing a mask in future during flu season, Covid vaccine or not.
