Yes Trump's words : "'I was elected to represent the citizens of Pittsburgh, not Paris'"
So Ted gives a shoutout to his cult leader. He is doubling down on tying himself to Trump and the Trump cult. He wants to piggy back off of QAnon, keep stoking the CT fires.

(14,178 posts)As much as I enjoyed the hurt reactions to Trump's pissiness at appointees and military personnel that quit on him, or defied him. Sessions, Bar, Pence (after all I did for him...)...
There is no one, well, maybe Lindsey, that I'd rather watch be humiliated and dressed down and disowned by Trump than Ted fucking Cruz. He has cast his lot with the orange traitor, and if that happened, he'd have no where to go

(801 posts)The Treaty of Paris, signed in Paris by representatives of King George III of Great Britain and representatives of the United States of America and Canada on September 3, 1783, officially ended the American Revolutionary War.The treaty set the boundaries between the British Empire in North America and the United States of America, on lines "exceedingly generous" to the latter.
You might think that Cruz would actually know about this treaty, which is as much a founding document of the USA as the Declaration.
It predates Texas.
NotANeocon
(423 posts)The quote - in typical Wikipedia fashion- fails to say whether it is referring to Upper Canada or Lower Canada which both existed at that time as part of the British North American Territories. Canada -as a country - did not exist in 1783.
Canada - as a country - did not in fact exist until June 1 1867/
kiri
(801 posts)My point was that in some crazy foreign place like Paris, with Ben Franklin present, it was agreed that there would be a country named The United States. Just getting the Brits to surrender in the Rev War did not do that.
This Treaty created the legal entity of the USA.
NotANeocon
(423 posts)NOT America - which is a continent and not a state or country. The USA is a part of that continent.

He's actually right because Joe Biden understands if the world is dying, the US dies, too. But Cruz doesn't even realize it.
He's a Senator and not only speaks himself into a confused statement, he's on the wrong side of the issue either way. Intellectually the man is a ball of confusion to most of his listeners.

(16,946 posts)Actually, there WAS a "GENEVA CONVENTION" - in 1863 - IN GENEVA - where they met to agree on a set of rules that became known as the "First Geneva Convention."
The acts or "rules" passed at these meetings or "CONVENTIONS" became known as "GENEVA CONVENTIONS" (yeah, RULES that came out of meetings/"CONVENTIONS!"
It is easy to get them confused - one is a group of meetings and the other is a set of rules.
