I believe today, Thursday, is the day Pete is supposed to get confirmed for Secretary of Transportation. He will be replacing Turleman's wife, Elaine Chao.
I am very interested in this. While this is a low-level Cabinet job, it is still very necessary for the infrastructure, and I have confidence that this man will do a good/great job. So, I hope he doesn't get blocked by some Trumpian ahole.
Are we still going to call him Mayor Pete? How about, The Highwayman? Or, Pete Street?

(6,526 posts)This post has big opportunity to showcase Pete's talents, combined with the REAL need to upgrade the nation's infrastructure. While I think he wears the "mayor" label as a badge of honor to show Main Street cred, obvioulsy this cabinet position puts him in a new league for national exposure.
Carpetbaggery here, but maybe he can move to a state where his senatorial aspirations can be realized down the road.

(13,040 posts)again in 2024) that Sec. Buttigieg could then be assigned to a diplomatic position to give him foreign policy experience. He's very young still - only 39. Even in another 25 years he'll still be young enough to ascend to the highest office. I'm not one to want to rush people into the presidency because of their ambitions. I want them to be well rounded and highly experienced like Joe Biden .
