(1,670 posts)I still disagree with a lot of her politics, but she's pretty even handed when it comes to authoritarians. Right is no better than left in her mind as far as I can tell.

She does have her good points, and I embrace that. But Im not quite ready to drop my guard yet. I feel the same way about most of the Lincoln Project people too.
How far have they awakened? Do they still buy all the hate government/cut taxes/starve the beast stuff? Have they seen the error of their ways? Has trump finally opened their eyes and uncoupled them from the really shitty republi-CON belief system - where selfishness is a virtue and Reverse Robin Hood is the god they worship?
I have yet to see serious changes-of-heart. I have not seen much of an open recognition or confession of sin and request for absolution. I will sit down next to them and talk. But Im sure-as-Hell not ready to leave my front door unlocked for them.
I'll give her credit for a degree of consistency we're just not seeing from the GOP or conservatives in general.
Still don't think I agree with the bulk of her politics, but she doesn't seem to be from the anti-democracy wing of the GOP. That's a start I guess.

(4,035 posts)politicians and extremists, are dealt with harshly, and I might add, swiftly.
Once an example is made of all involved, we can consider healing, whatever that implies.

(1,330 posts)Drives me nuts when people refer to trumpism as having "a different opinion." A different opinion is a musical or TV show choice. Thinking the national budget should be more generous to charitable issues is an opinion. Belief in God, at normal levels, is an opinion.
Supporting trump is not an "opinion." It is a different set of morals and values, it goes to the heart and core of the believer. Those morals and values are abhorrent--and that's not just an opinion, it's a given. So I agree--I will be patient with those who disagree with my opinions. Not those who are soulless and rotten to the core.
