13. UPDATE: We believe the FBI is close to an arrest and/or has all available information from the Capitol. We will continue to monitor for new information and will focus on other individuals.

(19,066 posts)There are thousands of cameras in the Capitol, there are thousands of hours of video the FBI is going through to ID people and build cases against them. I'm sure it is very systematic, they have a shared drive with all the names they have so far and the evidence is attached to their name. They have all the individuals who they are working on IDing listed out.
Justice is slow at times, I think the high profile people were arrested right away to make an example out of, but anyone inside the Capitol or having committed a crime outside is going to be IDed, I bet they end up arresting 99.9% of the people inside. Some of these people might think they got away with it for several months until they get a knock on the door one day.
That's how law enforcement works. Know people who were charged many months after they committed crimes, it's normal.

(13,524 posts)Some people are whining about how long its taking to round up these cretins, but hey, the Bureau has X amount of agents and theyre already pursuing other cases on top of this one, so...give em a minute!!
Meantime, the ones who havent been popped yet are cowering in the shadows, waiting for that *KNOCK KNOCK*...and Im LOVIN IT!!!

(19,066 posts)Here's a tactic they will undoubtedly use.
Show up with some stills of someone they know committed serious crimes in the Capitol, but just show stills of them standing there at first. Say, "Hey man, the government isn't looking to lock people up who were just walking around, we have these pictures of you here, looks like you're just walking around in these pictures. If you can confirm that's you, this will go a lot easier for you, maybe a fine or something." Suspect, "Phew, yeah, that's me, I didn't do anything, give me my fine and I'll pay it." Agent, "Thanks, so that is definitely you right? OK, now I want you to take a look at these other pictures of you..."
Sometimes justice comes so late, perps think it's just not fair. "Man, that was 8 months ago and ya'll showing up at my kid's birthday to lock me up, that's BS!"
And make no mistake about it, this is a murder investigation, that investigation takes precedence over every other one right now.

(13,524 posts)I have no doubt that as time ticks by, justice WILL be served, and hey, sorry about your kids birthday party, shoulda thought of that on January 6, IDIOT put your hands behind your back

(19,066 posts)Some of the best investigators have a real easy going way of sounding to suspects. "Yeah man, no big deal, this isn't a huge problem, don't even worry about it. So that was you in these pictures. K, now let me ask you about the gun you're holding here, also, not a big deal, just trying to clear some things up to help you out. I don't want you to worry about this."
Often times suspects are stunned when their charges finally get read to them, and the interview that they thought was a big nothingburger is viewed as a confession.

(19,066 posts)These morons video taped their crimes, it's not necessary to interview some of them although they will be interviewed at some point for more chares.

(65,057 posts)But, that one needs to be charged with something more than unlawful entry.
Accumulating evidence of conspiracy to commit a crime is a more time consuming job.
I think when we hear she's arrested, the charges will be more severe than most of those so far.

(13,524 posts)for their time in lockup...I also like knowing that harboring a fugitive comes with its own set of consequences, eh?
