General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAs promised, NPR is devoting time to "rural diners" and "how they feel."
The usual "election was stolen," "child sex rings," "trump is still my president," etc. I guess Paul Henning still lives except it's not funny anymore.

(987 posts)It is like, can they not find people who are not racist
I do not want to hear the Trump cry babies anymore
I want to hear from Biden supporters for a change

(3,501 posts)we need to deal with the anti-America destructive right-wing hate/propaganda machine that is destroying America
Ferrets are Cool
(21,106 posts)Because I sure don't...at least ones that are viable. The Hatch Act isn't being resurrected and as long as idiots watch and listen to the programming, faux snooze and hate radio isn't going away either.

(3,501 posts)Years ago I read an observation that the right/GOP put all it's money into propaganda networks like Rush Limbaugh and FOX News
The left/Dems favor grassroots activism.
The problem is that the propaganda networks are far easier to maintain than the excitement and effort needed with activism

(22,366 posts)You can donate to individual stations, but there should be a vehicle for the entire demographic.
Now if you are talking legislation, the Fairness Doctrine would be great.
Also, set limits on corporate ownership of media and require local programming on radio stations.

(58,785 posts)runs from @25-40%, and that's the VOTE. Then it also requires denying all the rural conservatives who are not hateful.
So, again, the many posts this one echoes are so very different from...well, the many RW posts this one echoes (sub "city" for "rural" ) how?

(66,380 posts)Back before COVID-19, I used to go to my local diner for breakfast on days off from work. Best biscuits and gravy in town. (For a Southern boy living in the Pacific Northwest, this is an important find...) When the place was below capacity, I would try to sit away from the throngs of breakfasters in their trucker caps and quilted vests, bitching and moaning about liberals, Communists, unions (I'm sure there were some union members among them, promoting the usual rationalization - 'All unions are bad except mine' ) Muslims, gays, transgender people, etc, etc.
How shitty does a person's life have to be before living a life of perpetual grievance is considered fulfilling?...

(9,893 posts)when they bust into the Capital? Somebody(s) needs to do a "listening tour" and see where they are coming from and what they want. Just saying they are racist doesn't cut it. There's nothing anybody can do with that.

(8,054 posts)ATTENTION for years now, Salena Zito made a whole industry out of the Trump-voter-in-the-diner schtick. Puffed up to the point that they thought they could literally invade the US Capitol and reverse an election and threaten Congressmen. They didn't do that because they were ignored for too long, or downtrodden. They did that because their delusional self-importance as the "real Murkins" got out of hand, they thought they could act with impunity, there would be no consequences--I think they thought they'd be held up as heroes, in fact.

(33,345 posts)They want their unfounded fears catered to, they want their roads paved, they want gas cheap, they want "good jobs" to come back, they want the clock to run backwards.

(33,148 posts)Useless MITS (Man in the street) pabulum.
It only serves to amplify the voices of the uninformed and their subjective biases. When objective measures don't fit the narrative whoever is creating the piece wants to establish. Since they can show selected responses to give the illusion of consensus.
