be careful, the gift card comes in a cheap envelope as PRE-SORTED FIRST CLASS (just like most junk mail) and if you are like me you pretty much automatically toss that crap.
checked the trash on a hunch after talking about still not getting the CHECK that the IRS site indicated would come this week. there it was. disguised as a shitty fake credit card offer.

(55,012 posts)got the last one direct deposited into the account I have used with the IRS for a decade or longer. and even got an ag support payment this month from the government dd'ed as well. this month! but the "get my money" link at irs.com indicated a check was mailed. then this stupid card is what I got. everybody else in my family or that I am close to got direct deposits, even one who got a paper check last time.

My mom received her $600 in a gift card. It looked like junk mail but it was legit.
