We're doing the Republican party a favor by removing the racist element.

Convicting Trump in the Senate, and removing insurrectionists from Congress will send a loud message. If the Republican party wants to survive, they better start listening to their greater angels.

The GOP is steeped in racism. It permeates their agenda and has for decades, certainly since the Civil Rights era shift.

Tossing out a few members of Congress - something extremely unlikely to happen, by the way - does nothing in the big picture. The racism that is the basis of their platform and inherent in everything they do is going to require way more than a symbolic slap on the wrist to address and rectify.

2. This goes back to moderate Republicans who will sit idle and watch.

They don't care if there are racists within. Once they figure out how fractured and dangerous their party is with the White Supremacists, they won't miss it when they're gone. But, they won't do it themselves. We're doing it for them. Whatever. As long as they're gone.
