Schumer and Mcconnel have a deal (Punchbowl)

Senate leaders are poised to announce an agreement this evening on the timeline for President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial.
Here's what we know: The earliest the trial could start as early as Feb. 9, which is essentially the timeline initially suggested by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. McConnell wanted Trump to have two weeks to prepare his case, and it appears he got that as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) has signed off on this schedule.

On Monday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi will send the articles to the Senate. On Tuesday, the Senate will swear in the senators, and issue a summons to Trump.

Trump’s response to the impeachment article and the House’s pre-trial brief will be due Feb. 2. On Feb. 8, Trump must submit his pre-trial brief.

The trial is set to begin the week of Feb. 8. The Senate will then "pause" between Feb. 2 and Feb. 9, during which the Senate is likely to confirm some of Joe Biden’s Cabinet nominees.

McConnell had floated a plan on Thursday where the trial would begin Feb. 11. This was too slow for Schumer, who wants to get moving quickly so he can get back to regular business. After some back and forth, Schumer has now agreed to give Trump’s defense team time to get ready, while also providing the Senate time to work on confirming Joe Biden’s Cabinet nominees.

Friday at the White House, Biden himself endorsed a delay in starting the trial.

“I haven’t heard the details of it, but I do think that having some time to get our administration up and running,” Biden said. “I want to thank the Senate for passing out our secretary of defense, it looks like our secretary of Treasury, looks like our secretary of State’s in place, so the more time we have to get up and running to meet these crises, the better.”

I was in the car this morning and heard some idiot ask Jen Psaki whether President Biden had a chance to review Trump's proposed new color scheme for Air Force 1. I nearly lost it. This is what you care about, given all that we are going through???

Anyway, I think President Biden and VP Harris need to make the Lincoln Project part of the DNC. These are reformed Republicans, and that is the only thing that Republicans do better than Ds: destroy people, ideas, and movements. Harness these forces for the greater good by trouncing Trump and the Republicans for the next several years, coupled with investigations and trials. That will go a long way to helping the US and its people.

Yes we know how he will vote.

What are you inferring about Baldwin? You singled her out. She is a Democrat. Already voted for his first impeachment.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a Senate floor speech today, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin announced her position on the Articles of Impeachment and that she will vote to convict President Trump of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

“My vote on the president’s abuse of power and obstruction of Congress is a vote to uphold my oath of office, and to support and defend the Constitution. My vote is a vote to uphold the rule of law and our uniquely American principle that no one, not even the president, is above the law,” Senator Baldwin said. “I only have one of 100 votes in the U.S. Senate and I am afraid that the majority is putting this president above the law by not convicting him of these impeachable offenses. But let’s be clear, this is not an exoneration of President Trump, it is a failure to show moral courage and hold this president accountable.”

Also why at 61 are you eligible for the vaccine?

NY to expand COVID vaccine eligibility to those 65 and older, immunocompromised

Those 65 and older can now confirm their eligibility and try to make an appointment for vaccination. To start the process, they can visit the state's vaccine website (covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov) or call the state hotline at 1-833-NYS-4-VAX (1-833-697-4829).

Some details of the new eligibility remain unclear, including the exact list of diseases and health conditions that qualify as immunocompromised, Cuomo said, adding state officials will be releasing a list in the future.

Of course, if this time period is used to try to throw insurrection down the memory hole, then I'll be pissed. But we as Democrats can work hard to make sure that doesn't happen, and can, in fact, use the time to find more damning evidence against Trump.
