Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) became annoyed with an ABC host on Sunday over the suggestion that former President Donald Trump's defenders are all "liars" about the results of the 2020 election.
"This election was not stolen," ABC host Georgia Stephanopoulos began his interview with Paul by noting. "Do you accept that fact?"
Paul, however, refused to respond with a straight answer.
"The debate over whether or not there's fraud should occur," Paul opined. "But, yes, were there people who voted twice? Were there dead people, illegal aliens who voted? Yes. And we should get to the bottom of it." .............(more)

So yes, lets get to the bottom of that fraud as well as the fraud coming from politicians like yourself who perpetrated even bigger fraud. Including the former so called president calling around to put pressure on officials.

This never gets mentioned in these exchanges. Is the press trying to appear unbiased?
Trump lost anyway. (We have heroes like Stacy Abrams to thank for this.)
We KNOW that Mr. tRump formed a task force on voter fraud and was told that it is EXTREMELY rare and didn't affect the 2016 election.
I think I read somewhere that the GWB administration also investigated voter fraud and came up with the same results.
In 2020, ALL 50 Governors and Secretaries of State certified their elections as fair and free from fraud.
So, yeah, Rand Paul... you're a big fat liar.

(355 posts)Boucher finally hauled the lawn detritus to the dump on October 10. But a few days later, Paul allegedly reconstructed the pile of debris in the same spot. Boucher took it away again, only to find more mounds of brush stacked in its place.
Boucher did battle with the pile again on November 2, setting fire to it and sustaining second-degree burns in the process. On November 3, the day of the assault, Paul was blowing leaves onto Boucher property. He was also allegedly rebuilding the stack of branches and yard waste.

Pamela Brown schooled Cawthorn over his ignorance, left him blinking like a deer in the headlights. Stephanopolous really ought to have shut Rand's mic off. The rude, boorish, talking over and shouting down the host is reminiscent of trying to win by volume.
This bullyboy behavior need to be called out and frozen in its tracks, too.
This interview did more to fuel the delusions on the right about a stolen election by Paul's deliberate and repeated strawmanning. Everyone who still does that has nothing to offer to a rational exchange and the interview should have ended right there.
George S. was right with his point that there aren't two sides to the fact that the election wasn't stolen but he looked weak because he let Paul bulldoze over him with dishonest arguments. This interview was still giving 80% of the time to conspiracy bs.

(13,446 posts)It is one of the most-watched news programs, and it would be helpful for them to take each swing states results and explain any discrepancies found in recounts, essentially Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. For example, I read a couple of weeks ago that a comparison of black votes in Michigan showed voting at only a small increase over 2016, while voting comparisons in the suburbs, many of them white, showed both more voters and more votes for Biden. Trump lost in the suburbs.
A second focus should be the court cases Trump filed and the lack of claims and evidence of fraud. I suspect that many Trump supporters do not know how many losing cases he had, nor what was actually claimed in those cases. Many of them were procedural, not claims of fraud.
Trumps Big Lie cannot be allowed to stand with millions of people believing it. That lie will just continue to fester and cause more violence.

(7,791 posts)Since the day Scott Walker entered Wisconsin politics, they have bent the power in the state toward republican PERIOD!
If Rand Paul's example of how absentee ballot requirements were changed without the legislator and the courts, then he IS WRONG!
IF there was any possibility for intervention by the legislators or the court, they would have DONE IT! That did not happen; those republican entities didn't just quietly lay down and not act.
The republicans, for years, have used every tactic they could to SUPPRESS voter rights and access. You name a voter suppression scheme, and they have used it in Wisconsin.
One final point Ron Johnson (aka RoJo) is a Wisconsin senator and a tRump supporter. Does Rand Paul think RoJo just laid down without a whimper of course not?
This time the repugs couldn't force their lies down our throats; they have played that card too many times, and the voters know it.
The one thing Rand Paul is right about there are two sides, and this SIDE says in the case of Wisconsin, HE is f***ing WRONG!

(9,768 posts)In Wisconsin there were tens of thousands of ballots that were signed but the voters didn't put their address on the ballot and they were counted anyway. This was the first time this was done.
I looked into the reality of this. In fact it was not the voter but the witness where the address was missing. According to the law they can have the witness come in and put the address on or verify the address and the poll worker can put it on. This was also the law in 2016 when no one had a problem with it and it was voted into law by the republican legislature. There is no evidence this procedure was not followed. Given this, I'm not sure what the issue is.

(437 posts)show proof or give up your seat. These guys are trying to cast doubt amongst the public, Democrats are going to have to fight fire with fire. Call them out for their undying support of Trumps continuous abhorrent actions these 4 years and their support of crimes against humanity.
Republicans wasted millions on Benghazi, disparaged and slandered legitimate election results, and now have the audacity to cite fear of Trump supporters when it comes to impeaching Trump. When it came to ripping children, including infants from their parents, republicans said and did nothing.
When it was publicized that thousands of immigrant children were missing, nothing but crickets were heard from republicans. Not one damn dime was allotted to finding these children, no repercussions for those involved, and to this day, no accounting of who they were and what happened to them.
I know that I went off track but it is important that Democrats emphasize how Godless and self indulging many of these republicans are. Their inhumane actions need to be called out and they need to be held accountable.
