(2,218 posts)You have a big circle for stupid people. You have another circle that intersects for evil people. Inside both of those is a circle for Republicans. Inside the circle for Republicans you have a circle for racists strongly intersecting with a circle for those who kiss up and kick down. Inside that intersection is a circle for conservatives. Inside that there is a small circle for those who have kompromat against them and a larger circle for the brainwashed masses. Before the election, that was nearly the same circle as the Tea Party and tRump Party. Now the tRump party is a bit smaller but still nearly fills the circle for the brainwashed masses. Currently the Tea Party is no longer being strongly funded by the Koch family so it is not currently a menace to us all.

(4,673 posts)conservatives shouldnt start a third party. They wouldnt win the presidency but could win some house seats as a start. They want to kill the Republican/Trump party and there are so many conservatives, just right of center, who are adrift.
A good friend falls in that later group and I told her we share the pain of the crazies, fear of losing our democracy, but I have it so much better because I have a home. Seems like splintering and slowly building as the crazy burns out, are jailed, de-programmed, whatever, would be best for conservatives and the country.

(9,288 posts)the GOP is razed with the sort of once in a lifetime defeat that will leave conservatives looking for an alternative.

The remainder is the vestigial GOP - like wings on an Ostrich - useless.

While they professed a hands off philosophy, it was more geared to hands off anything that affect our selves and businesses. If anyone else benefits from this approach, it is purely by accident, since the key element of a Libertarian is a self-affecting quality. Mind you, these are the same people who had no qualms about working with Stalin or Hitler's Germany prior to and during WWII. They were seen as fringe loons until the Koch children started buying their way into mainstream Republicanism around the 80s. Rank in file Republicans mercilessly mocked the Kocks from the 60s through the late 70s, and the sons finally got even.
Libertarians are actually the biggest takers of public largesse, where they subscribe to all available programs--viewing the one they get as somehow deserved and the ones they can't plug into as a tax they are somehow paying to subsidize others. They love government manipulation if it benefits their bottom line, else they fight it vigorously.
Because these people are mentally deranged, there has never been one successful state, or government built on Libertarianism, though several have been tried. Sooner or later the residents resent having others control their lives, there is in-fighting or power struggles and land grabs or they want to be the leader or ignore the elected leaders and these communities all fall apart.
Libertarians have since morphed into a more radicalized variant of greed. They are placed in the center of the Venn because they are the epicenter of what is all wrong with the Modern Conservative movement. They would enjoy a fascist state, as long as the fascism was their fascism and they were the top dogs and called the shots.
